Mice problems!!!!!! (only gave 5 stars so you can read) I moved here because of the nice neighborhood and rent, but on day 2 of moving in I had mice in the house. Of course I complained right away, as the people in the office seemed helpful, but nothing really was done. I had seen dead mice in one of the units I was touring before I moved in, so I had specifically asked for a unit that did not have previous mice problems, but here they were. The office only supplies sticky traps and no professional help. The winfield board answer after 5 emails with nothing but that they are discussing. And asking around, I now know that many units have mice problems and so apparently it is not an "emergency". Even though I saw mice as soon as I moved in, I was told I would need to pay the painting fee of ~$700 if I wished to move out. The office and board just seem to wait around until I do not complain anymore and handle it all by myself. I used poison traps and sticky pads but saw mice droppings even on the kitchen countertop for more than a month. I also saw actual mice many times in the living room/kitchen area and in my second floor bedroom at night which was pretty terrifying. Winfield village is all okay except for the way they deal with problems. I started feeling traumatic at the small scratching sounds mice make when they're scurring around. If I had known, I would have moved in elsewhere.

I remembered this place, I visited my brother who lived there 11 years ago. It is an awesome place, the townhouse is very spacious, the neighborhood is really appropriate for children and people looking for quietness. Hope to get back there soon.

Winfield Village is not public housing. It's a co-op, where each member owns a share of the corporation. Ownership entitles members to a townhouse or apartment for a charge that is related to how much it costs to operate the complex. HUD offers mortgage assistance to co-ops, which Winfield Village used to get started, the terms of which obligated the co-op to offer a certain amount of housing at a discouted rate. The mortgage has since been refinanced, but the terms include an agreement to continue offering the lower rent to moderate income households for a period of time.
