We took the 4:30 ferry from Ocracoke to Cedar Island. It was a great experience. We saw a lot of dolphins as we were leaving. The sunset was beautiful. Everything went smoothly. Staff were very professional.

YES YOU DO! $15.00 DOLLARS ONE WAY. YOU CAN BUY THEM ON LINE. NCFERRY.
5:30 in season. Definitely recommend reservations.
Rarely is wind an issue enough to cancel these true mariners. Hurricane force or strong gale, maybe. But they definitely do go out in small craft advisory conditions.
Yes you can. Call 2529966200 for reservations between 6 am and 4 pm
Which ferry are you asking about? Ocracoke to Hatteras is always free... Ocracoke to Cedar Island or Swanquarter rates are posted on the website: https://ferry. Ncdot. Gov/#/
Check online. Best information
Yes. No reservations necessary, but it is first come, first served...so if there's a crowd, there may be a wait in line of cars...but there are numerous ferries that cross daily. Shoot for the sunset or sunrise times, best show.
Nope. They asked for the drivers, drivers licence when I child went missing on the island, but nothing else.
There are 2 campsites on the island that I know of and we have a 43ft camper and a 3500 dodge ram. We were able to go on the ferry.
You have to make your reservations the day before at least to be guaranteed a spot on the ferry if you wait the day of a 50/50 whether or not you'll be allowed on the ferry if they're full
Go to ncdot.gov/divisions/ferry/pages/default.aspx and you can find the schedules. You can also make reservations from this site as well.. i do know that the ferry from Swan Quarter to Ocracoke is $15 for a 20 foot or smaller vehicle.
Yes. You probably have to leave it in your vehicle though (not much room to maneuver a dog between vehicles on the ship).
If you go to the ncdot site they have the ferry schedule, you can even make a reservation
We took a 30 feet motorhome to and from Ocracoke to Hatteras. Also, we saw massive 18 wheelers and construction equipment. Just get there early and expect to miss a ferry, they let work trucks on first, then locals/priority pass holders. Vacationers are lowest in priority!
Yes,. Make reservations though
I dont see why not, but you may want to call and find out
It gets too rough to safely dock.
On the ferry? There are places to sit and eat, one of the vessels at a minimum has a vending machine with small snacks. You can bring your own food. At swan quarter, no food is available for purchase that I have seen, and on ocracoke itself, there are a few establishments within walking distance of the ferry dock
No alcohol on the ferries please. 🙂
Are you leaving Hatteras or Ocracoke
Be on the safe side and get them in advance. Our ferry was sold out the day before it left and we had to change our plans.
Yes
