Wonderful! Experienced, well-trained staff with huge hearts. The clients are a myriad of the most interesting, lovely people from near and far. A clean, safe place where men aged 50 or better can feel respected and cared for while eating a tasty array of fresh foods or relaxing in the library or tv room.

St Martins is a homeless shelter for men 50 and over. It's capacity is 212. The men meet at the Lazarus Day Center, at 2329 Rainier Ave S., for the St Martins shuttle bus (6:30-7pm). They are transported to St Martins, where they are given a place to sleep, fed a light meal - provided and served by local churches, community groups and volunteers - then perhaps watch a little TV or read, then off to sleep. Washers and dryers are available, as are showers. By 7:30am, all the men must be awake and out of the building. Mats are not always available the first time a person enters, but once they have a mat, they may stay on the same mat, as long as they come in every day - miss a day, start over. Donations are accepted. Sox and underware are always needed. Clothing too - larger sizes are in short supply. Toiletries, such as skin lotion and disposable razors are gladly accepted. Food too. They say St Martins is the Cadillac of shelters.

It’s no exaggeration that this place saved my life After graduating UC Berkeley in 2015 (I was 65 at the time) I became homeless. The situation near there is extremely hard on the homeless and I had heard Seattle was better. It was hands down! If ever find yourself that position I highly recommend going there

It's a fine place but sleeping on the floor really close to other men just doesn't make me wanting to stay. If there sleeping men are less than 3" from each other and that's not normal! They need to get beds in there and watch how normal it is and watch how the medical bills decrease and the men won't be as sick as they are now! Getting everyone off the floor would do great because humans are like animals and shouldn't be sleeping on concrete because the concrete sucks the life out of the bones in humans as in the animals.

Yes, there is.
You have to be on respite, if you don't have a doctor note you have to leave by 7:30am
Jeff im not 100 percent certain, but i do belive you have to be over 50, but however im sure that if u went in personally and explained your situation, they may make an acception?? They try to help peoplein anyway that they can, bur then again Imay nit be aware of certain policies or bylaws that they have to go by?
Not to my knowledge. We were there for a week for a week February last year. I did contract pneumonia there however. Closest thing to prison or jail I've ever experienced outside of prison or jail.
Steve Martin Just For Men 50 and over, and it opens at 6: 30 p.m. just stop by at 6: 30 any night. Good luck.
We have had people staying there for over 14 years, since I started working there, but the city is now emphasizing getting "long-termers" (those over 3 years in a shelter) out and into their own housing. So, the answer is, yes, they can stay as long as they want, until the housing case managers get them into low-income housing.
Probably St. Martin's. Do you have any special needs?
