The building was built in 1950 and originally was a Safeway store. Gibson's Discount Center occupied it after Safeway. When Gibson's closed down, Checker Auto and Yellow Front moved in. Yellow Front went out of business and Pierce Flooring opened up in 1977 and leased about 3/4 of the building. Checker Auto did stay in the building for about 10 additional years after Pierce had moved in. Checker Auto was in a 1/4 of the building on the Brooks side of the building. Pierce Flooring took over the entire building around 1987 when Checker moved out and moved into their new building.
Hello Pat, that is a very good question! We are very proud to say that we do recycle used carpet. Virtually all used carpet, carpet pad, and any scraps are diverted from our local landfills and sent to a re-purposing plant.
