It honestly depends on what type of lithium battery. Make sure it's on the dangerous goods list of acceptable batteries. I don't have my IATA book with me at home but as a dangerous goods agent I can almost guarantee that you should have no problems shipping the battery but you can Google IATA approved lithium batteries and check that your battery is on the list.
