I have had three procedures here in the last year. The first was a surgery which my doctor was behind schedule and I waited for 5 hours prior to my surgery the staff downstairs waiting for surgery were rude when we inquired about the wait. By the time I saw my surgeon I was angry and he went to figure out what had happened to the schedule. The second was a spinal injection in which they used me as a pin cushion trying to find a vein the doctor finally performed the injection as the IV was only a precaution. The third procedure was a spinal fusion and although everything went well I felt rushed to leave. The prior neck fusions had been done at Swedish and if it were not for my complete trust in my doctor and the pain I was in I would not have given the place another chance. It's really frustrating to me to have a doctor I completely trust that performs surgeries st this location. If you have a choice don't use this surgery center use the hospital. Swedish was wonderful use them if you have a choice. This is only a guess but I think because it's a Proliance Surgery Center Proliance surgeons feel they should use it. Come to your own conclusions on that just a quess on my part. If it were not for a surgeon I totally trust I would never set foot in there again.

My experience was not good. I avoid choosing a physician that does procedures at The Seattle Surgery Center. I had to request that the pre-op medications be administered under aseptic conditions. The nursing staff did not introduce themselves by name or profession and did not have a visible ID badge. I had to ask them to identify themselves. The only person who identified himself before touching me was the anesthesiologist. The staff that assisted the physician preparing me before the procedure, during the procedure, and after were insensitive to my safety and my comfort. I requested several times if they would not rush me because it was painful, to remove the tape and clamps on my face and eyes gently because it was hurting and that my skin is fragile and can tear so please go slow. I was heard but not respected. The tape was ripped of quickly and while doing so the two nurses said that quick is the way they do it. The skin on my face was irritated, reddened, and sore when I got home. The discharge instructions were handed to me and I was told if I have any questions just to ask. I asked the person what her name was and she told me and I asked if she was a nurse and she said she was a MA. I was asked to sign a copy of the instructions claiming that I understood them and that a Nurse explained them to me. I did return once more to have my other eye cataract surgery. I felt confident that since I discussed my prior experience with my physician, this time it would be better. WRONG. Not only will I not use this facility again, my physician is on my Do Not Return List.

today i am three working days away from my surgery and they are still not able to finalize the scheduled time. to be honest i do mor have alot of confidence in seattle surgery center. I have to make arrangements for transportation, time from work and accomodation during my recovery. three days away and no one has a clue what time my surgery is scheduled for. i do not feel confident moving foward with this surgery. there are enough doubts in my mind added to the incompetence of seattle surgery center

Questions & Answers

Is there a waiting area for family?

Yes and it was pretty comfortable. There is also Starbucks 1.5 blocks away. There is also a nice.place to wait if you drop someone off at the SSC entrance on the 2nd floor of garage. They can sit while you park and then you walk in together.
