Staff sergeant on duty was informative and quite nice. Didn't expect the museum to be just one wing of a 3 story building but there's no entry fee. A lot of the vehicles could use a good coat of paint.

You have to call from the parking lot (the number is posted at the entrance) and an army person comes out and let's in visitors, the same procedure applies when you're ready to leave. The structure is historic in and of itself, the interior exhibits are well presented, with a potential for more rotational exhibits. The exterior exhibits are interesting. Tanks again

They've tried to restore the lobby to what it would have been like when building was still the Red Shield Inn- really neat. Has a very expansive gift shop and the items were not over priced. Exhibits were set up well and did a good job explaining the item's/area's history. Only complaint is that some of the exhibits were unavailable for viewing due to construction. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Great Museum would highly recommend it, our boys loved being able to touch all of the different things

Questions & Answers

How wheelchair friendly is it?

It's very wheelchair friendly. The inside of the museum is all on one floor and easy to access. The outside, where the military vehicles are, might have some tough spots to get theough, but still manageable on wheelchair.

My Father was stationed at Fort Lewis and deployed from there to Korea. I was very young but I recall living in army family housing on the ocean front. This was approximately 1950. Do you know where this is? Can I visit this area of ocean front?

I have several AAF uniforms that I would like to donate to the museum. All are in good condition and cleaned. Uniforms include: pants, jackets, shirts - both summer and winter plus full parade hats and light hats also both winter and summer.

Check in at the front desk but a better place to donate such a gift might be the Museum on Mcchord. I believe they have one there. If not check the website for when the Museum is open
