Beautiful place. I recommend to use Long Island Light Cruise from Orient, NY. 2 hours cruise with Sea Jet (35mph). It is amazing experience. And narrator is so funny!

Yes
Come and take light house tour out of New London. They give a history of each light house including when built what wars etc. Other than that I suggest library.
