I see a lot of negative comments from years ago. I work there now and have for a year now. We do not steal dogs. The adoption fee is different for every single dog. We only charge what we put into the dog. We get dogs that are in terrible conditions when we get them. We care for them get them healthy and ready for adoption. That cost money. Vets and medical treatment are expensive and so is vaccines and dog food. And to the people saying the staff is rude. None of those people work there any more. We are very friendly and always treat people with respect. I know people have issues with the owner. She is retiring in December and barely has anything to do with the shelter anymore. If the town doesn't step in to help run the place we will be shut down December 31 2022. We are barely making it as it is. We are over run with dogs and puppies and kitties and kittens. We don't have the things we need for the animals and sometimes I buy stuff with my own money just to make sure these animals are comfortable. Please come see us and adopt. Donate. Come help out. We really need help. There are only 3 of us who work there and there is only so much we can do. We need wood shavings and hay. We need newspaper. So to end this long review please don't listen to the negative comments from years ago. Things change. My boss penny has been there forever and she is only rude to people who are rude also. We get a lot of entitled obnoxious people who think we should just hand the dogs over because they said so. Oh and to the lady complaining about people yelling and asking about dogs barking. We are not animal control. We don't go out and pick up strays and lost dogs. Please complain to the town and city council because that's who pays them. We have nothing to do with animal control other than taking care of the animals they drop off. That's it. Sorry so long. I know a lot of people won't take the time to read this but to those who did thank you and hopefully we will see y'all visit the shelter.

Penny as usual was very nice and our lovely chiweenie LEVI, known there as Remi, is the best pup we could ever ask for. And he was puppy pad trained before we adopted him. The place was super tidy yet inviting. We’ve gotten almost all our family with paws from here and will continue to do so!

That was animal control 😂 there are only 3 of us who work here and we don't go out and knock on peoples doors. Please complain to the town of Malone. They run animal control. We have nothing to do with them until they bring us an animal.

How long does it take to get approved

Once your application has been handed in they then go through all applications received. They will check vet references. Depending on how many applications were put in for the same animal may make the approval time vary. Usually if the animal is up to date on shots and already been spayed/neutered then the process moves along a little faster.
