La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Peru Starved Rock State Park

The hotel doesn't look too nice from the outside and I was a little concerned because we had been driving all day and needed to rest. The hotel inside was modern, clean and nice. The hotel is located very close to the interstate so I could hear traffic going by but I was so tired, I feel asleep quickly.

Was improperly charged when they took my credit card to keep Incase of any damages. Refund never came. Had to call multiple times. They said the refund was issued when it wasn’t. I’m currently disputing the charge. Also checked out at 2:30am and the person working was on his phone and didn’t even put it down when I talked to him. Customer service was terrible. I will never stay at another La Quinta. Anyone who reads this, go somewhere else!!

When we needed an unplanned room at 12 a.m. they were one of the only locations with beds available. I have no complaints about the room compared to other reviews, it was decently clean, the bed was comfortable, and the pillows were actually firm compared to most with the cheapest pillows you can purchase. The breakfast however, was indeed terrible, especially for as expensive as the rooms were.

We were hesitant to stay here based on the reviews but it was a very nice La Quinta. The hotel seemed newer and was very clean. Staff was nice. Breakfast wasn't great but to be expected. Overall a good experience. I imagine in the summer the place gets crazy busy due to the state parks being open.
