The staff were so helpful when we wanted to bring our 2 dogs to meet a potential 3rd that was at the shelter. We called ahead and they helped facilitate a meet and greet that led to us bringing home our newest family member. Make sure to ask questions about meds and post surgery instructions. We didn't know he wasn't supposed to get a bath for 10 days and accidentally gave him another flea treatment bc we didn't realize he had already been treated.

I want to know how I can adopt a pet and I also want to be a volunteer in this place, can someone explain to me how I do it because I have little time here in the United States and I don't know how it works

The shelter is owned and run by the city, so job postings will be available online. The other piece of being a part of the city is needing to submit a budget that may or may not be approved, and a piece of that is having to justify to the tax payers every time they want to hire a position. In the end much of the interactions with the animals at the shelter is handled by the group of dedicated volunteers that I'm grateful to be a part of, and we're always looking for more volunteers!
Technically, it's not. However, the way the Director runs the shelter prevents unnecessary euthanasia. I volunteer at the there, and know we all do everything we can to support the Director's goal to find a forever home for every animal that comes in. By working closely with Pets Alive, other rescue groups, and other shelters the Pflugerville Animal Shelter has been able to prevent other shelters from being forced to euthanize due to over crowding or damage to those shelters (like that done by the recent hurricanes).
There is no registration fee in the city of Pflugerville. Proof of Rabies vaccination is required.
Rabbits do sometimes get turned into the shelter. It's best to call them directly to ask.

I have and they tell me he's fine but the person who owns the dog won't even address the dog when he does open the garage. He will just close the door, lock it and go into the house or leave

It depends on a few factors. The normal dog adoption fee is $60, dogs over 6 years old or have been at the shelter for longer than 2 moths are $25. The shelter also has many discounted and free adoption specials (Father's Day weekend is the soonest one coming up). All adoptions include upto date vaccines, spay/neuter, heartworm testing, and microchipping.
Yes
For on-site adoptions, Visa, MC, cash and checks are accepted
