Except for where standard cars and such go, there's no motorized cycles allowed. If you mean pedal-powered then YES! you can definitely ride bikes on dirt.
Is alcohol allowed at the campsites?

I have not managed to find any specific prohibition on alcohol. And this is Asheville. Alcohol consumption is generally expected around here. I'd think that as long as you don't act like fools nobody will care either way.

You should be fine on the top loops. The Lakeside loop has a tricky turn that may challenge you. We have a 26' with a F250 and we make it through all the loops with no issue.
Just booked a site here - does anyone know current dog swimming rules? As long as they are on leash - can dogs swim here?
Kimberly Unterreiner | Oct 30, 2020
Benjamin Royer | Oct 30, 2020
Lake Powhatan rules do not permit dogs in the lake at all. However, they seem to only apply those rules to the swimming area and beach. I have let my dog wade in on her leash and I have seen other people letting their dogs do the same without incident. It is *technically* against the rules though. There is a large creek that feeds into the lake and that you have easy access to from the road leading to the swimming. Take your dog there. Much more suitable and technically there is no rule against it.

Yes, small lake, but nice. You can fish off of the pier and there's also a beach. Enjoy.
Do sites with 50 amp, also have 30 amp plug in? Or do we need to get a dog bone adapter for our 30amp?

Since all of your reservations for October seem to be taken, is there anyplace we can park until one of the walkin sites becomes available?

Carl Allen | Oct 31, 2019
Try North Mills Creek campground. Really nice spot very close. Also, sometimes spots are available at Lake Powhatan even though online shows booked (go to entrance and ask in person). Good luck!
If I reserve a campsite, can I switch the site the day of arrival to a walk in reservation site if available? The site I want is walk in reservation, but I’d def like to ensure I have a spot.

No, the reservation that you make blocks another camper from taking that same spot so they charge you for it. I have had the host make an exception in the past but I would not count on it.
I highly recommend reservations. There are a few first come first serve sites but they are in high demand. There is also a policy where you must camp on spot the first night. If you are looking just to park your RV and spend a night elsewhere this is not an option.
There are single and double occupancy sites, one is for 8 people and other is 16 with 4 tents. Go to Lake Powhatan website, will give you all info. Excellent place to camp with family. We loved it!
There have been bears spotted recently so they recommend putting food in coolers in your car to keep it and you safe. They have trash dumpsters for convenience as well.
