My fiancee & I applied for a marriage license online and submitted our payment 1 month before our wedding. We found out later that they are scheduling video conferences 6 weeks after they receive payment so we wouldn't have had our license in time for our wedding day. I called their office and they told me I wasn't allowed to make an appointment in person and that if I didn't like their waiting policy then I should go to another county. I called Lebanon county and was able to schedule a appointment immediately without any issues at all. The staff in Lebanon were extremely kind and helpful unlike Lancaster County which were unprofessional and rude.

Would NOT recommend. My best piece of advice... ANY PA county can give you a valid marriage license for use anywhere in PA (I wish someone gave use this advice sooner!!) Take 10 min and look around at other counties. We've heard Lebanon and Cumberland are good options. If you do decide to go with Lancaster apply ASAP within your time window or you may not get legally married on your wedding day. They're slow, non-responsive to communication, and give different information depending on the day.

The marriage license department staff are very lazy and rude. They lost my first application and I had to stop payment on a check and the waited until the day and time of my video call to tell me they don’t have my new application but cashed my check and the. Said their systems where down. And magically no one works in that office and blamed it on Covid. It took 3 months to get a hold of someone just to get an appointment!! I highly recommend going to Chester county if you need a marriage license!!!! They are fully staffed and actually work!
