Our experience with the Hillside Day DBT program was outstanding. Their wholistic approach involves intensive DBT therapy for teens, parent support groups, psychiatric services, and individual and family therapy. The 6-week program with additional 2-weeks of transition back to school was extremely effective and has vastly improved how we communicate as a family. The staff are caring and compassionate while being well versed in a variety of challenges that teens face. They provide strong accountability and encourage ownership of the process.

This place is horrible for anyone dealing with any kind of depression, anxiety, adhd, bipolar, aggression, suicidal idealation, trauma, self harm, etc. which just happens to be everyone there. The staff are horrible. They can do anything to you. The male staff is allowed to come into girls rooms, touch them, and even bathroom monitor them. You get in trouble for self harming and get yelled at and they isolate you which makes it ten times worse. If you say anything negative about the place over phone call your disconnected. You have no privacy. The staff will look at you shower. The meals are smaller and sometimes the staff eats our snacks so we can’t have snack and a lot of people have meds that increase their appetite and they would cry and the staff didn’t give us any food. I whitenesses the nurses giving people the completely wrong meds 3 times and denied it. They put them in horrible danger. I wasn’t allowed to leave my room when my roommate was screaming, threatening, hitting the staff, and trying to choke herself. They told me to go to sleep.

Hillside's 6wk IOP program literally saved my daughter's life and changed how our whole family communicates with one another. She's doing amazing. I also credit much of the change we've experienced to the incredible aftercare services we received from the Community Outreach Program and Ms. Lynn Ward & Miss Tajae Slaughter. If your child/family is in crisis and you're looking for a new way try Hillside. In my opinion some of these bad reviews stem from parents who can't see their own need to change. It's not just the kids who need to learn DBT it's the whole family. I can't speak on the residential program because my daughter was intensive out patient. Keep in mind, people are quick to complain but it takes guts to write a positive public review for a psychiatric facility.***Sadly, I've been informed that the Community Outreach Program is ending. Very upsetting to hear as they are the primary reason for our after treatment success, I firmly believe that.***

My daughter did not like a lot of it... but managed to find a couple things they tolerated. Breakfast they chose the chicken biscuit, they didn't like the powder eggs. They did say you can ask for the vegetarian option at each meal and found that it was a better option.
Yes they do..
As far as I know they do give one day passes... I don't about any other amount. Just talk to them
They will have a list when you are accepted. No holes in jeans either
Saturday and Sunday 9 to 11/ 1 to 3

their own clothes
Yes W.Gaan Akers you are totally correct
Yes.
Yes
It is a long term residential facility. They have separate cottages divided by age group and gender. It really is a nice facility compared to most. My son has had nothing but good things to say about the staff. I suggest checking the website for more information.
