I moved in here last year, and my fiancée and my dog and I have been very happy here. We rented the unit unseen moving from out of state last summer. The office staff is always very nice and helpful, Lambert the maintenance guy is amazing and pest control comes very quickly. There are definitely no infestations or anything in my building. The inside isn’t super cute or anything but it is fine, and I don’t think you really overpay. I am confused about the bad reviews here. I think you might consider these reviews EXTREMELY nit picky, no place I have ever lived is perfect, but in my experience it’s really the staff that make or break the place, and here they make it. ALSO, everywhere has policies. If you don’t want to be charged a fee pay your rent on time? I actually feel like they’re pretty nice about it, they post a reminder on the door if I forget to pay a utility bill without a late fee. I also don’t feel that we overpay by a ton. Maybe a little for the quality of the interior, but the grounds are really nice and make up for it. Rent hikes are everywhere and we just renewed with a smaller than expected increase. We are really happy here! I would reccommend renting here. Neighbors are nice (except the lady downstairs of me 🤣) and we feel overall safe here.

Honest Review- from the inside out. I have worked and lived at La Paloma since 2017. Working here: It has been a pleasure and the best job I've ever had. From my long term co workers to my present and past residents. Some residents moved on and some unfortunately passed away. I will miss this property. I do know the staff try their best to accommodate every person (we are not perfect) we have had the same property management since like 2007 and I think that says something in a positive light. Some reviews I have seen written here are fair but also unfair. I think it is safe to say if you leave your apartment in not the way you received it you will be responsible for any damages/cleaning that was not done. Seriously, I've walked into returned units where I had to step out and catch my breathe. Albuquerque has a notorious reputation for theft/vehicle related crimes. At La Paloma I've seen things happen obviously. Most of the time I've seen residents/guests leave valuable possessions in their cars like money, tools or even computers, etc. NEVER leave items in your car anywhere in Albuquerque. As far as rental increases: since the pandemic started EVERYONE is waiting to purchase a home and while waiting they are renting apartments. The market for apartments is booming and rates increase, we have no control over that. Do not take it out on the office staff. We have to follow the rules like any other job so if you are late on rent or need to break the lease for any reason (other than military reasons) you will pay a term fee- such as your legal binding lease agreement states. Our maintenance staff has been here since the dawn of time, they are honestly great! They are quick, the only time there has been delays with workorders is usually because we are waiting on parts/appliances or emergencies take priority. Covid-19 really held everything back. Pest control comes every week free of charge to residents (for most cases) never be afraid to get yourself on the list. Overall, always ask questions- we're here to help. Living here: I have had two separate apartments here at La Paloma; a 2-Bedroom and a 3-bedroom. I found the space most comfortable, especially for me and my roommates. Walk in closets have always been my thing. I kept my apartments extremely tidy and really only came across some spiders every now and then. I've never had a problem with parking (but I never lived in a tight parking section) I love having a carport so I think it's worth it. Generally this area of town is quiet and a good area. Next to shopping centers. As far as apartment noise, I do hear regular apartment noise and have heard my neighbors at times. I recommend if you're noise sensitive like me to get the top floor or build a good relationship with your neighbors. I have experienced my neighbors look out for me and others. I would live here again (picky on location) and recommend to others. If you are EXTREMLY high maintenance and expect hardwood floors, granite countertops, etc.. maybe not. If I can describe La Paloma in one word it would definitely be 'hospitable.' I think that has much to do with the people here and the beautiful grounds along with the amenities. Check it out for yourself. This review comes unprovoked, nobody told me to write this. I've always been honest with my co-workers, residents and prospects so I hope this review helps someone looking. Until next time La Paloma.

Living here was great. I only paid ~ $1,000 for a 2 bedroom apartment and rent has substantially increased since then. Worth it then, not with it now. Maintenance people were absolutely wonderful and kind. Make sure you are there for the walk through when you move out. They try their best to keep your deposit. I was charged $40 for “dust” on the ceiling fans. Even though there were nails and dust everyone when I moved in (didn’t complain because it was the nicest place I’d been in at the time). They also tried to charge me for water damage although I had already made a maintenance request to fix it (a hole formed on the ceiling and leaked water). Which they did! Cause great maintenance, but they just painted over it and then tried to blame the tenets for the damage upon move out. Take pictures always, and make sure you walk through on move out or they will take your money.

La Paloma Apartments are not worth the cost. Appliances are inexpensive Hot Point Appliances that are made by GE, They have broken multiple times and have needed replacements. The counter tops are painted laminate counter tops with paint that chips and the apartment staff will still count it as damage even though it is only cosmetic. The roof leaks every year and need repairs and has never been fully "Fixed". Rent hikes happen often (Most recently 250+) even during a pandemic. The rent has increased 3 different times since Jan 2020 and is over $1700 which is not worth the apartment its self. The staff is unfriendly and if you are late on rent by any amount of time they begin threatening legal action and making you pay the legal fees. The amount you pay for a 2 BR apartment here would be the cost for a high end apartment and this place is not it. Other places near by are less expensive with equal quality apartments or better. As a consumer I would consider other options for apartment rental options as I am now. I have lived here for multiple years out of necessity and the only thing I can show for it is paying $900+ more now then when I did 3 years ago. those amounts aren't cost increase needs, it is pure greed.
