Peter created an excellent and comfortable personal branding session. He was able to capture the balance between creative and professional just as I was hoping and delivered the photos in a quick turnaround.

Peter Dressel is amazing. His space is lovely. He is a master of lighting. Everyone who looks at my pictures talk about how the lighting is amazing and how it captures my warmth. Also, I loved how he worked with me to do photos of me doing tapping. It's an odd (and effective) tool that I wanted to convey and the images are stunning.

Working with Peter was great. I have a lot of moving parts to my business which is in transition right now. He was patient, understanding and supportive when I needed to have new photos that conveyed my new mission and brand identity.

Questions & Answers

what’s the best type of lighting for portraits?

Large soft light sources work best. That could be a window, a softbox, umbrella and clouds on an overcast day. Soft light produces soft shadows which is much more flattering for the face.

What is the difference between a headshot and a portrait?

Technically there’s no difference.  Headshot photos are a type of portrait mostly used for commercial purposes usually to promote the person in the photograph.  It could be for a LinkedIn profile, personal branding or a bio page on a web site just to name a few.

what is portrait photography?

Portrait photography is photographs of some type of living being usually but not always a human being. You could certainly take portraits of dogs, cats, horses etc but generally speaking a portrait is a photograph that's all about the person in the photograph.
