My honest rating is a negative 1 star, but since 1 star is the lowest I can rate, that's what they receive. Now the reasons for my rating. KCBOE is a joke. The board makes decisions based off their PERSONAL needs or schedule and NOT what's in the BEST interest of the schools nor students. RON DURRING (however his name is spelled) is the BIGGEST clown of them all. He makes over $100,000 yearly, way over, yet our TEACHERS, the MOST IMPORTANT pillars in the education community, get pennies. KCBOE definitely keeps dropping the ball with their new policies and decisions. For instance, they decided that it makes sense for ALL elementary students start at the same time, ALL middle schools start at the same time, and same for ALL high schools. The PROBLEM with this decision is, Kanawha county does NOT have enough buses nor drivers to make this work, or did KCBOE forget that one bus is responsible for transporting students to and from multiple different schools; this is the case for most of Kanawha county buses!?! They did away with 2 hour delays a couple years ago. I guess they didn't care if students could make it to school or that winter morning temperatures are often too cold for the kids to be out in. Let's NOT forget to mention the poor conditions of most of the schools in this country, even the newer ones are experiencing problems. If it isn't mold, it's the air conditioning. They would rather invest money into their own pockets than to invest it into the schools, equipment, students, or teachers. The curriculum that they bound these teachers to follow is a joke but they are too ignorant to understand this is why this county's test scores are so low. THIS PLACE IS THE WORST AND AN ABSOLUTE JOKE!!!

It is very cold in the schools and you all will not repair the heaters in the schools. Y’all need to come sit in these schools for an hour with your big carhart and tell us how you feel, oh wait, you’re not allowed to wear big carhart jackets you can only wear light jackets and hoodies.

Questions & Answers

If you have a problem getting your kidds to school on time every day but they are there but late why do the treat it like truncy.?

Because every so many tardies (5 I think) make up one absence. Once they miss a certain amount of days or acquire so many absences (from all of their tardies), you are referred to the judge. BETTER QUESTION TO ASK, yourself of course, why are your kids tardy so many times that you are referred to the judge? Why is it that YOU, the parent, CANNOT seem to get your kids to school (their job) on time??? If it's because of your schedule, I as a mother, suggest you get a schedule that works around the one your child(ren) have. Your kid(s) is/are YOUR priority NOT your job or ANYTHING else. I hope I answered your question.

When is the homeschool test for 8th grade going into 9th going to happen

I have no clue why are you asking me for

What is the county and/or state policy about restroom use in public schools. Students are denied access to restroom facilities first by the shortened time between classes and second by the fact that every bathroom is locked.

Yes, I'm aware. This is all because of massive vandalism and theft issues in the schools. If I'm not mistaken things are being handled on a local level.
