The service attitude of the clerks is extremely poor and impatient. I really don’t understand how the service level in Taiwan can be so different. I don’t know what to do if they are in a bad mood. As a public servant, shouldn’t you bring your personal emotions to work? If the work is so world-weary, it is not recommended to serve the public.

The teco and building staff are actually very nice and helpful, it’s the policy that needs to be improved. Do your research before you get your passport renewed and you’ll be fine. 1. Make an appointment 2. Show up on time 3. Make sure to prepare everything EXACTLY as instructed especially the photos the background must be WHITE not gray not off white but WHITE 4. Anticipate a 3 months processing time. 5. Pick up are on Tuesday and Friday at 3pm ONLY Give receipt to the doorman and just sit and wait n the lobby it’s aprx 30-45 mins someone will come down with a bunch of passport and call out the names You can try to call but most likely no one will pick up because they are under staffed

As a Chinese, or aka Native Taiwanese, I was so sad to say that, Yes, I cannot argue more. No matter the service and the quality of the service, all in all it is not terrible can describe that. period. Joanne Jo 1 review a year ago As a Taiwanese, I am very disappointed with our foreign affairs staff and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York. I even feel ashamed that I have to criticize you so publicly. Your bureaucratic attitude, lack of empathy and irrationality are not the Taiwan I remember. Due to the current global epidemic situation, I understand that you do not answer the phone during working hours. But not replying to emails for several days is not the attitude that a taxpayer's salary should have, right? Many Taiwanese overseas contact the Taiwan office usually because of emergencies, such as the illness of an elderly parent or the death of a close relative. Because of this, we must bear the unease of long-distance travel and even the risk of infection during this extraordinary period, and seek a way to return to Taiwan from the Taiwan office. But what about the help we get? Our information comes from the Facebook community, from the enthusiastic replies from people who don't know Facebook, and from our friends and relatives who have been on the phone all over the place. What forms do I need to fill out, how long does it take to process an emergency passport, and how long does it take to apply for a special entry? This information could have been clearly written out on the official website or copied & pasted by the office staff. Sorry, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York, you do not represent Taiwan. Instead, you just reminded us that one day Taiwan's entire system can very quickly return to the very bureaucratic, very inefficient, and very backward culture of the past.

I mailed a document with the wrong Notary Public to Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) and Emma Hsu Called to inform me about the problem. So, I made a trip from NJ to her NY office. Fortunately, I was able to see Emma Hsu personally, and it was a totally pleasant experience, I was much impressed by how friendly, professionally, and efficacious, this office everyone to handle my case. Especially Emma Hsu, I am so very grateful for Emma Hsu’s help. Thanks to TECO.

Can I accomplish a Real Estate related Power of Attorney document by mail?
Yes, you have to notarize it first than mail it with a pre-payed return mail and $15 fee. For more info, check their website. It’s well explained. 加油!
Entering Taiwan with a US passport should be visa-free within 30 days. This is an experience from three years ago. Just don't know if there are any changes? It is recommended to call to check.
You and the kids can take a photo that meets the requirements and apply for a passport to enter Taiwan.
I believe only business visas are available right now. Need to work with a Taiwanese company.
Yes.
They should be open, not allowed to close for 4 days straight.
Chinese nationality and Chinese nationality cannot coexist. In addition, even if you do not have a Chinese nationality, you must meet the necessary conditions to obtain a Taiwan passport, and the Republic of China does not have a so-called overseas passport.
