Questions & Answers

I remember, fresh veggies, fruits, cakes , pies. Are these items still apart of church food bank?

Georgia's regional food banks have expanded their coolers and trucking capacity to enable them to handle more fresh produce from Georgia farmers. They use donated funds to purchase critically important protein to add to donated foods to round out the offerings to families. You will still also see donated bread, cakes and pies as well as fresh produce and protein donated by local retail partners including grocery stores, bakeries and deli's. It keeps that food out of landfills and provides much needed food to families in need.

No. The Georgia Food Bank Association is not a food bank and does not provide food to those in need. We are an Association that provides services to our member food banks. Food Banks in our network distribute food through a network of community based food pantries. They do not distribute food directly to those in need.

The Atlanta Community Food Bank does not distribute food directly to the public. They have a network of more than 600 community based partners like church pantries and other nonprofit agencies distributing food. Call 211, the United Way helpline for information on the pantry closest to your location.
