Georgia's regional food banks have expanded their coolers and trucking capacity to enable them to handle more fresh produce from Georgia farmers. They use donated funds to purchase critically important protein to add to donated foods to round out the offerings to families. You will still also see donated bread, cakes and pies as well as fresh produce and protein donated by local retail partners including grocery stores, bakeries and deli's. It keeps that food out of landfills and provides much needed food to families in need.
