For domestic moves, we offer “valuation coverage,” which covers your belongings while they are in our care. Valuation coverage level for full value protection is determined by using $6 per pound of the estimated weight of your shipment with a $0 deductible. Call us to learn more about this protection!

We are a full-service mover so we can pack any or all of your belongings, ensuring they are carefully protected and wrapped for transit. If you would prefer to pack yourself, or pack some of your belongings, that is fine too.

Hilldrup has more than 1.25 million square feet of storage available throughout the mid-Atlantic and southeastern United States between their 9 offices. The storage warehouses are monitored by security cameras, equipped with sprinklers and fire suppression systems and are DOD-certified to adhere to government regulations. In the DC market, we have 585,000 square feet of storage, including 100,000 square feet of climate controlled storage and auto storage.

Hilldrup moves our customers Monday-Saturday. Office staff work Mon-Fri, but we can arrange a move to be handled Monday-Saturday. We are closed on Sundays.

We sell used boxes, as available. Please call our office for more information.

All of our trucks are fully owned and operated by Hilldrup and its employees. We do not rent trucks for others to move themselves.

Yes, we can provide a binding estimate for your move. This specifies in advance the cost of the move based on the services requested, or deemed necessary, at the time of the estimate. Binding estimates are valid for the time period specified, up to 60 days.

The time between when your goods are loaded into our truck and when they deliver depends on the weight of your shipment and mileage to your destination.

Our availability to move you depends on the time of year and how far in advance you’ve called us. Summer is the busiest time of year for our business, as are the ends of each month and the end of the year. These are the times when the heaviest demands are placed on our personnel and trucks. We make every effort to schedule your move when it’s convenient for you, but we do typically ask for two weeks heads up at a minimum. Call us, and we’ll see what we can do for you!

We certainly can move your car, whether it’s part of its own shipment or part of a larger move alongside your belongings! If you are just moving a car, it may be most efficient to move it with a car carrier, but we can help no matter what!

We do not move pianos by themselves, but we can move them if they’re part of a larger move where you’re moving other belongings in your home.

Neither Hilldrup nor United Van Lines moves animals in our trucks, but Hilldrup has preferred partners who specialize in animal/pet moves that we can refer you to and ensure the move is set up so your animals are taken great care of!

We certainly can move your boat, whether it’s part of its own shipment or part of a larger move alongside your belongings! If you are just moving a boat, it may be most efficient to move it with a car carrier, but we can help no matter what!

We do move wine! Hilldrup works hand in hand with a partner to ensure the wine is kept in optimal conditions (including being climate controlled) while being transported.

Depending on the size of your shipment, your goods may be on the truck with another customers’ belongings. However, the shipments will be sectioned off so your belongings won’t be co-mingled with another customers’. Including different shipments on the same truck is done for efficiency in planning pick-ups and deliveries.

You, or someone over the age of 18 who has knowledge of the move details, must be present during all phases of the move process – pre-move survey, packing, loading and unloading. This assures all items you intend to move are surveyed, packed, loaded and delivered.

Of course! You will need to reserve your freight elevator ahead of time so the move can go as efficiently as possible, but we can move in any building or neighborhood.

Of course! When performing the pre-move survey, we’ll ask you for any access issues such as long stairs, parking, etc. and then we can work this into the instructions for our moving crews.

Hilldrup is a full-service international moving services company. You’ll have a Move Manager to guide you through the process so you can get yourself and your belongings wherever in the world you’re moving safely, easily and efficiently! We have preferred partners in all corners of the globe who know the local cultures and ensure all details of the move and your relocation into the new area is taken care of!

Our trucks are not refrigerated. Any perishable item will need to be thrown away or taken by you and your family during the move. We do offer climate controlled storage so any valuable items can be stored there safely once they arrive at our warehouses.
