I was a resident of Camden Shady Grove for 3 years. For the most part it was a pleasant experience, despite a few hiccups. Brittany did a great job. My move out has been the most frustrating situation I have ever experienced as a renter. I didn’t do the final walk-through with them because I trusted them, and I pre-paid to have management schedule cleaning. When I got my final bill, I was charged for replacing the stovetop, the carpet and extra money to clean the cabinets, leaving me owing Camden several hundred dollars. I disagreed with paying because I knew the condition at which I left it. I agreed to pay it because I didn’t want to ruin my credit. Now it comes time for me to make payments and when I sign into the system there is no pay button. I called the management office 3-4 times to no avail. I text. I try to contact the person who is supposed to manage locations in the area, and I hear from no one. I finally got an email giving me instructions on how to pay, but the system only allows me to select apartments between 300-700 and I still can’t even pay them. Please read others' reviews from former residents; it is the same story. Fix the system or provide alternate means for former residents to pay. My advice for current or future residents: do your move out walk through with management. Allow them to look you in the eye and explain why they are charging you for a new stovetop.

Peoples bikes have been stolen here, car rims stolen, weird people looking through residents windows late at night, & someone had some car parts recently stolen. The garage door was broken and non residents could come in as they pleased which did not make me feel safe living at Camden Shady Grove Apartments. Management does little to nothing when there are security issues. Talked downstairs to management & they do not wish to add more cameras.

The biggest issue with this place is security. Since I’ve lived here which is November 2021, I’ve seen that someone stole 4 rims and tires from a guest that parked inside the garage, an expensive bike stolen from inside the garage, and a piece of someone’s car also stolen from them. Other issues: The Garage has only few cameras present, random wires hanging from the ceiling, cars that aren’t supposed to be there with half peeled towing stickers, no salt put down when it was snowing on upper level, Entrance to garage for pedestrians has no handle. My first winter here involved snow and ice piling up on the 5th floor of the garage because there was no salt put down. A huge safety concern for the elderly or people who struggle keeping their balance. The “gifts” from dogs that are seen within building at least 1x month now with no clean up stations placed on each level to help residents clean their own messes. Update: this is less frequent now, but still happens My experience with the gym was that there was a delay on fixing treadmills when they were out for months & not outsourcing to other vendors to get a solution quicker, cheap yoga mats that are too small for anyone over 5’6 The bike storage is not secure enough The temperature in hallway is fine now, but when we first moved in it was 58 degrees for weeks. I checked it regularly and when i told management about it they claimed it was on for weeks but conveniently the temperature changed a couple hours right after i spoke with them. Look at the pictures i took and the times i took them. The pool had issues such as no backup plan to fill in for lifeguard when he’s off on Tuesdays, no heat in the pool & have heard many other people talk about it. The pool is shaded a lot of the day so the sun doesn’t hit it much. Moving into apartment came with issues such as multiple cracks in walls, washer rim looked like it had mold but then replaced, fire sprinkler installed incorrectly, leaks through balcony door (all fixed now, but should have been fixed before we moved in) Dog park isn’t a problem for me but i feel bad for the people that live closer to it because dog owners are in there after hours. Why is there no locking mechanism in place for this so they can’t access it? With all of these issues the apartment complex does not feel like a “luxury” apartment event though we pay the price. I’ve already spoken with management so no further discussion is needed. I hope whoever reads this takes all my points into consideration before moving here.

This complex is not a "safe, gated" community. I was fooled into the cleanliness appeal of the first look at the apartment. After living here, I am noticing by day just strangers going from door to door knocking and saying they're from "xyz company" even after when the leasing office closes. How did they even get in? Secondly, there has been increasing theft of personal property throughout the community and no management involvement, no attempt to "increase security" and it's just not worth the increasing monthly rent to live here, especially if you will be by yourself. Please do yourself a favor and find a property with 24/7 security, even if it costs a few hundred a month more.
