I was the passenger in an accident where someone pulled out across two lanes of traffic. My injuries changed my life forever. The insurance companies tried to downplay the reality of my situation which resulted in two major surgeries. I had heard about Ritchie Law Firm and gave them a call for help. It was the best call I could have made. They listened to my situation and took over to fight the insurance companies for me. They were there for me anytime I had questions. They listened to all my concerns. They were always polite and caring. Ritchie Law Firm got the insurance companies to settle out of court. Now I can move on with my life and be comfortable. I will recommend them to everyone I can. Thank you Ritchie Law Firm.

I am so happy I contacted them, for my workers comp case. Mr Guntharp and his assistant Kathy were absolutely wonderful. They answered all my questions, explained everything to me. I truly appreciate all the hard work they did on my behalf. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Thank you again for all you did to help me.

I had an accident on the job in July 2020, and was denied workers compensation benefits. However with Bob Guntharpe's and his staffs help, I finally got a very good settlement from workers comp in September of 2022. Yes it was a long road but Bob and his staff at Ritchie Law Firm made it worth while.

How much is my case worth?

Isaac Edwards | Oct 28, 2021
Ritchie Law Firm PLC | Oct 28, 2021

Our clients ask us this question all the time! It's important to keep in mind that because every case is different, it's difficult to give an exact, accurate number for settlement value. When we determine the amount of compensation we believe our clients deserve, we consider all of the accident-related medical bills they've incurred, as well as the impact their accident has had on their life. But, there are also many other factors that go into our evaluation of a client's case. If you're wondering how much you might be entitled to receive after an auto accident, give us a call and we'll be happy to talk with you about it!

Do I need to hire an attorney?

Isaac Edwards | Oct 28, 2021
Ritchie Law Firm PLC | Oct 28, 2021

While you're definitely not required to hire a lawyer to handle your car accident claim, we recommend that you at least talk with a lawyer experienced in handling these types of cases before you sign anything or give a recorded statement. Not only will this help make the legal process easier to navigate, but it also increases your chances of receiving the maximum amount of compensation possible. Without legal representation or competent advice, many insurance adjusters will try to pay you as little money as possible for your injuries and property damage. But, we know that not every car accident victim needs a lawyer to settle their cases. Our team of lawyers at the Ritchie Law Firm will review your claim and, if we feel you would be better off handling your case yourself, we will tell you so straight away. We will only recommend that you hire a lawyer if we genuinely believe it's in your best interest to prevent being taken advantage of by the insurance company.

How long will it take for my case to settle?

Isaac Edwards | Oct 28, 2021
Ritchie Law Firm PLC | Oct 28, 2021

Because every case is different, it is difficult to predict an exact timeline for settlement. However, at the Ritchie Law Firm, we understand how important it is for our clients to get their medical bills and other expenses paid as quickly as possible. That's why we work quickly and efficiently to get the best possible result for your case. Additionally, we will work hard to keep you updated on the status of your case, so you will always know what to expect.

Will my case go to trial?

Isaac Edwards | Oct 28, 2021
Ritchie Law Firm PLC | Oct 28, 2021

Most likely not. Most car accidents claims that our team of lawyers handle are able to be settled out of court. However, in the case that going to trial becomes necessary for your case, the best thing you can do is have an experienced and tough lawyer to take your case to trial. Our team has battled insurance companies in the courtroom for years. We are not afraid to go to trial and get our clients what they deserve.

Can I get workers' compensation if he accident was my fault?

Isaac Edwards | Oct 28, 2021
Ritchie Law Firm PLC | Oct 28, 2021

In Virginia, sometimes workers' compensation claims are denied due to violations of safety procedures. In such a case, you should contact a lawyer who is experienced in handling Virginia workers' compensation claims to discuss your case. Does my employer offer workers' comp?

Isaac Edwards | Oct 28, 2021
Ritchie Law Firm PLC | Oct 28, 2021

In Virginia, workers' compensation is a form of insurance that is required for almost every employer. According to the standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), employers are required to ensure that their workplace environments are safe for their employees. Employers are required to post safety notices in areas that are easily seen by their employees. Additionally, employers are required to provide information about how to apply for workers' compensation if one of their employees are injured.

Should I sue my employer?

Isaac Edwards | Oct 28, 2021
Ritchie Law Firm PLC | Oct 28, 2021

If you are injured as a result of a work injury, you are generally not able to sue your employer, except for certain special circumstances. In Virginia, under limited circumstances, employees are able to file a lawsuit against their employer to recover for their injuries. One such example is if an employer has purposely caused the injury in some way. In circumstances such as that, you may be able to file a law suit in civil court against your employer. However, in Virginia, employers are required to carry workers' compensation insurance and, if you've been injured on the job, you may be entitled to workers' compensation benefits.
