Yes, they are open new years day but have reduced holiday hours from 10am to 8pm. Usually normal weekday hours are from 8am to 9pm.
If they don't, I have seem two types at the Sunday olney farmer's market (held in fields nearby medstar Montgomery thrift store)

Call them up and ask, the staff there are very informative and helpful.
They have romaine that is not pre chopped. Only the pre chopped is a problem. Also, Roots would not put Arizona romaine on the shelf. They are too responsible for that.
