Samething happened to me. I was told cause used remotes are banged up, faded, an kinda nasty returning them isn't a priority. It's one of the things i liked about comcast an it made them seem kinda cool to me an one of the reasons i got service from comcast again. Reusable box are main thing but who wants someone else's germ infested remote? Keep it as an extra tv remote. One of the enjoyable things about getting new service is getting a brand new remote.
