I had my first child here on June 20th. I was there for several days. Dr.Navarro was very thorough. He explained things very well and seemed to really care about my health as well as the babies. He was very kind and thorough. He did a great job with my c section even though he doesn’t see all the layers separately like I wanted. I didn’t want a c section at all but it was necessary and we tried several other things first. All the staff including midwives and nurses were very nice to me. They seemed very sympathetic to me and my pain. My postpartum care was great. They gave us several bags with some baby clothes and swaddles as well as resources for me and baby. They gave me stool softeners and prenatal vitamins daily. They also gave me a tummy binder right after surgery which I found to be helpful with the pain and it helps your uterus contact too. They were great at regularly massaging my uterus to prevent hemmoraging and also put things on my calves to prevent clots since pre-eclampsia was a concern in my case. As a black woman they all seemed very aware of the disparities in healthcare black women face and what the common causes of maternal mortality are for everyone but also for black women. Dr. Navarro seemed very determined to keep me from falling into those statistics and wanted to take every preventative measure possible. They served me meals daily and kept my water bottle full. They also made me watch educational videos on breastfeeding newborn care and postpartum care. They also provide la toon consultants on request. This hospital really encourages breastfeeding. Only downside is the hospital labor rooms are small. There are no bathtubs and they don’t offer laughing gas currently. They also don’t allow you to diffuse essential oils but you can sniff the bottles or use them topically if you like The only thing I would question is if they are too trigger happy on interventions but they got me and my baby out safe so as a first time mom who was terrified of the birthing process and risk of dying I’m happy we made it lol

I delivered my first baby here and the level of care I received was outstanding. Every department I encountered was very professional and caring. Nurse Megan went above and beyond to ensure my labor was the most comfortable, she was so sweet to my husband and I. Thank you St. Joe’s for a great experience!

Terrible billing department makes birth hell. They wait two years then surprise bill you with medical bills and refuse to submit them through insurance. If you want to fight balance billing for years they are excellent! Otherwise go elsewhere.

My daughter Azalea Elizabeth was just born here. This was the first time going through this special experience together for my girlfriend Alexis & I here. All the nurses & staff were very hands on & friendly. Especially the labor & delivery nurse TINA (posted in one of the pics we shared) she was just awesome because she made the welcoming of our new babygirl into the world so much more pleasant & our stay here more enjoyable! She made it much more comfortable for us & exceeds at her job duties-thank you!

It all depends on the hospital if its c section it's only the dad and if its regular I think 3 or 4 people can be in the room

Do they make you share rooms after delivery or do they put you in private rooms?

My wife and I had both kids here and they were great. Both times we had private rooms and the nurses were all fantastic.
