Beautiful hotel, wonderful food an amenities. If you aren't familiar with the neighborhood it an be a little unsettling, but the staff does their best to offset this fear. The house car is a nice amenity, but the staff is often busy and it takes much longer than 5 minutes for them to respond to let you know whether or not transportation is available. In room dining is wonderful an the roof top deck and fire pits are great. I left items in the room safe and am still working through how to retrieve them, but am optimistic everything will work out. The items were left on a holiday weekend so I'm assuming that when staff is back working full time they will reach out to coordinate mailing my misplaced items. If you are looking for a hotel where you can walk everywhere, this is not the place, but if you don't mind using transportation and enjoy the amenities the hotel has to offer it's very lovely.

Fantastic Hotel and staff are amazing. The restoration of the building is beautiful and the rooftop deck restaurant /lounge is breathtaking. The area around the hotel is a little rough but they have a car that can drop you or cable cars right out front. Because of a different affiliation with Marriott , Platinum members do not get breakfast provided and valet parking is $80 but its still well worth staying.

This hotel has some of the best service I have received, comparable to the Ritz! When I arrived I was promptly greeted with some deliciously refreshing champagne and was warmly greeted. The rooms are beautifully decorated and have incredible Aesop shampoo/conditioner/wash. The restaurants on site are delicious and equally detailed service. Five star service all around! My only disappointment is that the area of town is a little rough, definitely not somewhere you can walk alone at night. The hotel has car service so not a huge issue but for solo female travelers just something to be aware of! Overall, definitely 100% stay there again!

I love all Proper Hotels, especially the San Francisco hotel. Kelly Wearstler whips up some magic to beautifully curate a gorgeous hotel. The staff is incredibly nice. The room rates are fair, but you’re paying for the quality - from the vibe to the customer service to the restaurants / food. Be sure to check out Charmaine’s rooftop for either a Saturday / Sunday brunch or for happy hour. Food and drinks are great (get the fish tacos!)
