Long overdue review. Stayed here in 2019, and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Don’t trust pictures pls , I wish I could’ve taken some photos of the actual room because its very tight , but they use wide angle to make it look wide and spacious. Also , please if you are ladies traveling in small group this are is one to avoid , the streets are not safe and alot of homeless. The building is very old , they only patched up the lobby to make it look modern xD. The elevators was one of those vintage otis elevators with the metal bars. When I stayed there there was someone trying to open our room at 12 am x_x… smh . The bathroom is also not cleaned well. I mean if you don’t mind cleanliness/ safety go ahead haha

This hotel is great. The staff are all very polite and incredibly helpful. The lobby is welcoming and tastefully modern. The room was clean with nice linens and the beds are comfortable. Our room on the 6th floor offered a nice view of the downtown area and lots of trips on the eclectic elevator. It was also a very quiet stay. Reading the reviews before our stay, we expected the area to be quite a bit worse than our experience. We did notice a homeless population in the area but they were just that: homeless. We walked solo to in the early evening and together back late at night from the venue we were attending and had no encounter with any person outside the hotel save for some harassment from a religious group. The walk down Larkin to Market is a really nice walk, right past town hall, that I quite enjoyed. There is a lot to see in the area. There is also a little corner store right next to the hotel which was really convenient. This hotel was very affordable. There was no fridge or microwave in the room we stayed in, which I wasn't prepared for, but I didn't check online or ask prior to check in. Maybe other rooms have this amenity, I don't know. Breakfast was really so-so but many Ascends don't offer breakfast at all so that was fine with us and we opted to go to a local place for breakfast instead. We would definitely stay here again.

4 night stay at HTL 587 was a mixed bag. The hotel amenities and decor exceeded expectations. A dozen craft beers on tap for self service was a first for me in any hotel. Great lounge w/ coffees/other high quality snacks available. Elevator was eclectic, if not a little pleasantly unsafe. Room was furnished very nicely and the bathroom fixtures and cleanliness far exceeded expectations! The neighborhood, on the other hand, would prevent me from staying again. Definitely the sketchiest neighborhood in the San Francisco downtown area. Never was physically or verbally accosted, but definitely the kind of place where you have to be the right mix of careful and not looking like an easy target. I live in a city where this is not unfamiliar, but I still took Uber’s home every night, as to not walk through the area after dark, would recommend the same to be safe..front door of the building is always clear and never had any issues immediately at the hotel, but lots of chaos can ensue nearby. Nothing more the hotel can do then provide fairly priced accommodations and have a brightly lit front door, but wouldn’t recommend staying here to people who don’t often find themselves in less savoury parts of their own towns.

Overall hotel had a nice vintage yet modern feel. Staff was very nice, however the furnace did not work in the room and they did not have any space heaters so sleeping was uncomfortable in the cold. The shower was also very hard to figure out with no obvious signs of how to operate. Phones in the room did not connect to front desk, so I googled the hotel number and was able to connect with a staff member who walked me through the process. Transients everywhere outside but the staff did their best to keep us safe and comfortable with them outside the hotel.

No.
There are several on the Street right by the Hotel. I parked right on Eddy with no issues.
Hi Dj, We are happy to offer our recommendations. There are great options just a block away. 469 Eddy (Golden State Parking) closes from midnight to 6am and it is the more economic option. You can also visit 655 Ellis ( Express Parking ) in case you need a 24 hour parking garage. Happy Travels, Fernando Arizaga
