There is nothing you can do to prevent the chance of ectopic pregnancy after tubal reversal surgery. The only prevention would be to use birth control. The chance of ectopic pregnancy after tubal reversal ranges from 10% to 15%. If you had tubal ligation reversal with us and your doctor treated you with Clomid after reversal you should have good chances but it depends on the type of tubal ligation. Overall your chances would be about 60%. If you have not had a tubal ligation then you would need to see a local infertility doctor for treatment and they could give you a better estimate of your chances of pregnancy. Age is the biggest fact. The chance of natural pregnancy at age 44 after tubal reversal would be around 10% to 15%. IVF with donor eggs would offer you a 50% chance of pregnancy...your next best chance is tubal reversal (but dont wait too long)....IVF with own eggs would be less than 10% and many IVF doctors would not accept you as a patient at age 44 unless you did donor eggs. Clomid causes you to ovulate (release an egg). Clomid does not enhance potency of eggs. Technically as the egg ages their ability to divide and grow decrease slowly. Currently there is no treatment that can reverse that process.
