The so called intake professional people are a Joke! Waste of time!

My dad and I went in order for me to be assessed for outpatient treatment. I was very clear that I was not in immediate danger and that I was okay, I just needed some extra support with the outpatient treatment. I am not suicidal nor wanting to hurt myself or others. We had an appointment at 12 PM. We went in and filled out paperwork and waited until 1:20 PM for me to be assessed. I am not a minor so, I could go back alone. I was told I would be seen shortly. The room is small, and only had three chairs (mine had scratches and a bite mark in it), the TV was bolted to the wall and not on, and the tissue box was empty. There were no windows or clocks. All my belongings were taken from me. I started to cry because I just wanted to be seen and leave. No one helped me. One person finally noticed and I told them I was anxious and they just gave me a snack and water. I asked for more tissues which was given. I asked the time and it was already 2 PM. There was no form of entertainment while I waited. I was crying and shaking from the immense anxiety and anticipation of waiting to be seen. I asked a staff member to give me my stuff and to let me out. They told me they would be back in a second. They were not. I asked another person. Same response. Finally, at what I think was 2:30 PM, a social worker assessed me. I have had better assessments in a therapists' office. She apologized for the wait and I was just relieved to be seen. She told me she would recommend PHP and gave me a flyer and told me I would be going the next day. That is it. No payment information or anything. Nothing else explained to me. I finally left at 3 PM. I was shaking and crying to my dad about how awful that was and dehumanizing.

Intake waiting room was awful. Staff completely lacked any compassion whatsoever, violated basic healthcare laws. Spending time in their intake waiting room alone is enough to make anyones anxiety levels go through the roof. The staff are so rude and will blatantly ignore you. The inpatient program seem to work well for my son, for the most part, my only complaint there is that they failed to work with his family, and changed discharge planning altogether without consulting with us. The outpatient program was absurd, they discharged my son without the proper medication, and they failed to follow up to ensure he was safe.

This has had to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had, and I wasn’t even the one seeking help. I took my partner here in determination for the outpatient program. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT let them take you to the back. You are locked in there for hours (it was 8 hours for us!!) without your belongings, or any entertainment for the ridiculous wait to be “assessed”. In the most blank and depressing room, if you get anxious being in enclosed spaces with blank walls and a hot room, have fun! Because that is all you will experience. Angela, “the social worker” will wait for you to say one concerning sentence and immediately push for inpatient. My girlfriend was crying and repeating that is not what she wanted or needed. Angela proceeded to threaten my partner saying she had no other choice, even though it’s “voluntary” and will manipulate you into thinking it’s your only choice or they will call the police on you if you even attempt to leave. They also threaten to contact MHMR, their higher ups. This was actually our blessing! They told us if we denied inpatient with her that MHMR would immediately put her into inpatient with a longer “sentence” obviously a scare tactic. I’m glad I was in a calmer state of mind and could see the lies and asked to speak with MHMR. She was clearly frustrated and her coworker was yelling at my partner and saying “your girlfriend will have relief if you stay with us!!” How DARE you try and manipulate her in this state. At 12:45, that “assessment” was over. Told us they would be contacting MHMR, they didn’t bother calling them until TWO THIRTY. How do I know this? Because MHMR asked how long we were at the facility waiting, which was 6 hours at that point and they were shocked they didn’t contact them immediately after our first assessment and our request to meet with them. Another tactic they use to make you feel hopeless and so say oh well might as well admit myself. MHMR was actually our life saver, fun fact the state of Texas severely looks down upon inpatient, and called these people ridiculous and said my partner just needed a different outpatient program with a support person for 24 hours after leaving the facility. 8 hours later we were finally set free. (Also this place has no phone service, so if you’re scared and need to call a loved one or text, it will not go through. Noticing a pattern here?) do not go here or send your love ones. They do not care about you, only your wallet and insurance. I also overheard a dad in the waiting room expressing his concern about his daughter who was recently released having severe withdrawals from the drugs they unnecessarily gave her. They will force you to stay here, drug you completely, not listen to you, and take your money. The only good thing about this experience was MHMR ACTUALLY listening and Vanessa. Vanessa was the only pure soul we encountered, saw that we were there for 8 hours and felt terrible and gave us a coloring book for our first bit of entertainment besides looking at a blank wall and didn’t shame me for asking her to unlock the bathroom for me to use. Thank you Vanessa, your kindness will never be forgotten. To everyone else, you’re horrible. (Front desk people excluded they’re just young and needing a job and have no control over anything else)

They don't take Medicaid they only take Medicare

No, they do not. Not at all. My daughter has been held over a week and filed an AMA. They put her in solitary for 24 hours then threatened her into redacting it.
Nope. No blankets, bras, stuffed animals, jewelry, etc. I brought my kid chapstick because her lips were so chapped and dry they were peeling. She wasn't allowed to have it. There is no guide on what you can and cannot bring, so anything you try to bring is rejected.
They do...i was input and did php with Aetna
Yes, they can, depending on the distance and circumstance.
We work with most insurance carriers. Please give us a call and we can discuss your options.
Nope.
Until the insurance won't pay anymore. You won't be able to visit either...30 minutes per week is all the in person visits you'll get.
Only 30 minutes, one day per week. That's it
They will not let you check out with AMA. They will threaten you and tell you they're going to get a court order to keep you there longer if you don't redact it. You are put in solitary confinement for 24 hours after signing it, then threatened.
I wouldn't even contemplate this. There would be no greater horror than being sent to this awful prison because I have adhd.
Yes they have partial hospitalization program aka php and you see a psych twice a week and they have iop intensive outpatient program which is less hours and you see your own psychiatrist.
