Had the windshield replaced in my 2022 Jeep Wrangler Picked up my vehicle notice glass all over the inside and outside. damage on the hood also. They did pay for a interior detail after I complained. The technician knew what he did but waited for me to complain about the damage. Couldn't even drive my vehicle for a few days because of the fine glass shards everywhere.

Questions & Answers

Can you buff scratches out of auto glass?

Glass Doctor of Lansing, MI | May 29, 2022
Glass Doctor of Lansing, MI | May 29, 2022

Scratch removal in auto glass is not a commercially viable solution to the retail market. Basically, it is labor-intensive and not always successful. If the customer is not satisfied with the result, they are understandably not willing to pay for the time and materials invested by the glass company. Scratch removal and scratch buffing systems exist; however, they are typically only practical in warehouses, industrial, and larger commercial glass projects. Please call our Glass Doctor office if you would like a more detailed explanation.

How long after my windshield gets replaced can I drive away?

Currently, most Glass Doctor locations use urethane with a one-hour safe drive-away time from when the new windshield gets set. No need for blue tape or any holds on washing your car. You are fully protected at the 60-minute mark. Please be sure to check with your local Glass Doctor to ensure the type of urethane being used.

Can you cut tempered glass?

Glass Doctor of Lansing, MI | May 29, 2022
Glass Doctor of Lansing, MI | May 29, 2022

Unfortunately, tempered safety glass, by design, cannot be cut. It is designed to break into small pieces when cut or broken to reduce the risk of significant injuries to the person breaking it. Using safety glass, of which “tempered” is one type, is mandated by state building codes in specific applications like doors, sidelights, showers, etc. Please call Glass Doctor if you want more information on this topic.
