Managing a safe environment with horses and kids can definitely be stressful and we really appreciated the time and consideration the hostess put into this. The two hour time slot has three activities and then you have a half hour to eat or have cake. This worked out really great as the kids were engaged the whole time. The hostess was very ready to resolve any issues and quick to respond to questions. A good time was had by all.

This review has nothing to do with the family whose party we attended (a four year old's birthday party) or the care of the horses, all of whom seemed appropriately taken care of to me, although I am not knowledgable in this area. The issue is with the woman who apparently was in charge of the farm and of the party from the venue's end; she repeatedly belittled and yelled at the four children in attendance, including--and most frequently--at the four-year-old birthday girl herself, including asking her if she "even wanted to have her party" because she was apparently too excited to see the horses and not listening attentively enough to the "hostess" as she spoke about horse health issues inappropriate for children (including how sick horses were on a scale of 1-5 upon her meeting them). After one of the children was playing with a silent toy put out for guests by the family while this "hostess" from the farm screamed at the children her three rules for riding the horse available to them, she threatened the children that she had "her own baby upstairs" that she could be with instead of out there with them, children who "didn't want to listen." She made the children upset and less interested in engaging with the animals. The family who was having the party here was extremely polite and attempted to be understanding, despite the woman treating all guests poorly. I would strongly discourage any sort of interaction with this woman or visits to this farm.

Personally I would not give this any stars! Our grandson was looking forward to riding the ponies at his 3rd birthday party. I have to say it was a relief to get away from the rude individual that attempts to operate this so called business! Once we left we all had a great time and the grandson had a wonderful party!! For those looking for a birthday venue for young ones, this is not a good place. There are many, many other places in the area with much nicer people and accommodations.

We had hoped to celebrate our grandson’s birthday at Happy Trails, but the woman who was supposed to be our hostess was rude, obnoxious , mean, and was scary not only to the kids, but adults too —-so we left and went to a much more pleasant and inviting environment & had a great gathering. Would not recommend this place unless they send staff to customer service training!
