I really wanted to love this restaurant. I walk pass often but was a little apprehensive about dining. I figured yesterday would have been a perfect time to dine, the weather was just right and it was date night! We placed our order with Mia B. I ordered a mojito and my boyfriend ordered a dirty martini for starters. We waited quite some time for our drinks and when the drinks arrived they weren’t to our liking but I dealt with it my boyfriend had to send his back, this time his drink took longer than the first two, he finally gets the drink handed to him by another waitress and she was really nice and friendly. In between us drinking and conversation we noticed our waitress Mia B take orders from 3 different tables and not once did she ever come back to our table to ask if we were ready to order. The next time we got her attention was when we asked for the check and she was very prompt at bringing the check and even with a smirk as if she was happy that we were leaving. After we paid the bill I couldn’t help but to speak with the manager and I explained to her of the situation that took place and to no avail she blames the lack of service to a little rain pour that lasted only of 10 minutes. During that rain pour Mia took 3 different tables orders and when we were leaving each table were enjoying their dish. Wouldn’t go back!

Clay is a fabulous restaurant nestled a few blocks off of Harlem’s famed restaurant row. The food at Clay is prepared with thought, care, and love. The flavor and texture combinations are impressive and every portion of your meal will offer something that’s leaves you satisfied and ready for the next course. I recommend the steak tartare - it’s prepared with a distinct sesame flavor that adds a boldness to the classic dish. All of the pastas are delicious and prepared with delicate expertise. I ordered the gnocchi and was very pleased. To end your meal, please do not leave without ordering the donuts. They are sensational and you’ll savor every bite. You will leave Clay feeling satisfied and having thoroughly enjoyed your dining experience. It’s one of the best that Harlem has to offer.

One of the best places in Harlem. The appetizers make you want more, the pastas feel fresh and light and the steak is exquisite and as close to perfection as one can get albeit not as huge as one would expect in an average US steakhouse. Above all - the best surprise was the dessert and little doughnuts which reminded me of ones my grandma used to make but with a new refreshing flavor. Congratulations Clay! Keep it up!
