Yes you can. Depending on the water levels you will need to take out in a couple of places to get around a snag or two. There are a few shifting gravel bars that you're going to need to float as you wade. Great perch fishing as well as some large mouth bass. Just watch the season on bass.
Only for groups in a reserved camping area.
The hours listed are sunrise to sunset for the park. So I would assume no for late night star gazing. Which is a bummer because I bet this spot would be prime. Maybe you could talk with someone from the Springfield parks department to host a star gazing night at the park?!
I'm not sure if you can picnic there. It wasn't crowded when we went at 5:30-7pm
