This is an excellent way to give back to the community. I have tutored the same student for three years now, and have had the privilege of witnessing all of his academic and personal growth. This experience has been very transformative for me as well - sometimes I wonder if I have learned more from my student than he has from me! Do not be intimidated by the fact that this volunteer opportunity involves young children! Tutoring Chicago's program structure offers plenty of resources and training, and tutoring occurs within a greater classroom unit that is there to help support you and your student. Please consider helping the children of Chicago, because a little bit of time given consistently over a period of time makes a huge impact :)
