We stayed 3 nights in the bay view which was extremely unlevel, close to each other and it was very windy. It was nice having the view and watching others fish. The 2nd part of the week was spent in the wooded area and we preferred it. The sites were private, bathrooms were top notch. There were walking trails and couple of bird sanctuaries that were pretty cool.not many local restaurants and most are closed early part of week. Enjoyed our stay and would return but would stay in wooded area.

Saw this on TV and wanted to go. My wife brought me here for my birthday and I'm glad she did. Beautiful sunny day. The fishing pier was all rebuilt and nice to walk out on. They have great rates for camp sites so we're already planning another trip.$5 per person was a good deal.

This place is amazing! The Bayfront campsites are right on the water. They have water and electricity. They also have a small shelter with a picnic table. We did catch a few small drum from our campsite but the weather was quite cool, may have been better if the water was warmer.

Beautiful. We stayed at the RV spots on the bay and I honestly did not want to leave. The park is well kept and breathtaking, with birds everywhere and lots of places to fish and walk. The town of Rockport was full of sites along the bay and delicious seafood. I'd go back and recommend to friends. Great park.

I was told by a park ranger that by mid January 2018 was the expected time.
I launched at the copono ramp on the 9th drove by the goose island pier and it actually looked intact. Cedar Bayou was filled in at the surf except for three small channels and looked like Vincent's slough was filled in too
Probably 2 years they have to wait for TX DOT to repair the road to the pier. That had not been done when I was there in 6 months ago
If you drive along the water near the Big Tree, there are cabins, rooms, and RV sites. Look online for more information.
The wooded campsites are open. The waterfront sites are closed for approximately a year for repairs
Tpwd 18with electric and water 10 with just water $5 person per day under 12 free park pass $70 for 12 months from purchasing if you camp or visit parks best way to go
They are clearing out up rooted and fallen trees, branches, debris, and cleaning up the park. Making sure that it and the fishing pier is safe for public use.
being a disabled vet you need to look into the park pass
Last week they were swarming around our campsite. All times of the day and night.
We were just there yesterday, they said it all (should) be open by November
Yes, the pier is still closed.. Everything at the waterfront is being rebuilt. The camping spots at the water are still closed as well.
But be well-prepared for mosquitos. Get a few thermocells, a bunch of citronella candles, and the 40% deet. Seriously.
Ya soooooo the answer is yes you can swim 🙈 at least when I was out there on the bay wall but that area is closed right now to fix the roads. And if u do manage to get there somehow ur gonna need water shoes cause I tore my feet up when I jumped in out there cause of all the shells and I was also stung by a jelly fish weighting out in the water 😂 good luck
Yes. As I recall it's $5 per person unless you have an annual pass
U might want to contact them directly
It hasn't been rebuilt yet. Lots of other places to fish though
Check with the park because the waterfront was day use only Can't reserve at this time I tried
Probably in a year or so it will get fixed. Waiting on txdot to fix the road first
Yes day license not expensive. Good spot depends upon your skill, we didn't get a bite. Bring own tackle and give it a try.
I'll bet so, it's been awhile since we've been through there....before the hurricane.
Yes, but the pier is still inaccessible because the hurricane Harvey washed the road to it away. Also if you plan to camp overnight (recommend) you need to reserve online. Otherwise just for a day trip for a picnic, grilling, hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing and visiting the big tree itself, you just need to drive over and pay for the day unless you have a texas parks and wildlife park pass for the year.
Go online to the parks website or give them a quick call.
Drive up to the ranger station and I'll give you a pass for $5 for the day
The pier is not open yet. The side of the island with the pier is closed to public. The bay front on the opposite side of rhe pier is open for day use
Yes water and electricity
The Big Tree is a Live Oak tree
The Bayfront camping areas are open for day use only. You cannot camp there overnight. There is currently no ETA for the bayfront sites to be open for overnight camping. Source: Discussion with State Park Ranger as of 10:20am 05/26/2018.
It's always a good place to camp. Believe the pier is still closed but plenty of stuff fishing. Always beautiful....
Nope pier is damaged and the road to the pier is also damaged
Just check in but normally they're booked up way in advance.
Any polarized lens helps you see into water.
No there are fees for camping even if you have a State Park annual pass
I was told that the wooded sites won't open till next year. Right now the oceanfront ones on the right are open but the ones on the pier side are closed
Yes it's dog friendly. Not really hiking trails there.
Yes it is
I assume you just go there. Rockport has a curfew. Have to be out of town by 7.
Probably pretty bad it was very close to where the storm came ashore.
