No reservation is needed to camp in the Magic Circle, but a permit from the BLM is required. From Sep 15 to Apr 15 there are 2 types of permits - $180 for the whole season or $40 for 14 days. From Apr 16 to Sep 14 the permit is $75. The permit allows you to use the dump station, water station, and trash dumpsters. During the winter season you are allowed to camp without moving. During the summer season you must move at least 25 miles every 14 days. The Magic Circle itself is open all year and you can legally be nude anytime you are within the Magic Circle boundary. During a majority of the winter season a large tent gets erected with volunteer help. Tent activities include dances, pot-luck-dinners, Bingo, themed activities, meetings, free items table, lending library, etc. To attend any tent function, you must be legally camped within the Magic Circle or be a guest of someone who is. All camper rigs in the Magic Circle must comply with BLM rules.
Stop at the LTVA kiosk and ask them or look online. The Magic Circle is in the LaPosa South LTVA in the Yuma BLM Management Area.
The BLM requires that all campers in the Magic Circle be fully self-contained with a permanently mounted 10+ gallon holding tank. Porta-potties and Composting toilets do not qualify. If your tractor meets these requirements, you can camp at the Magic Circle. The BLM patrols the Magic Circle frequently.
During the majority of the winter season, snakes are in their burrows and are lethargic and slow. Snakes are rarely seen from December to March. Scorpions and Tarantulas are also in hiding but may come out during a warm spell in the winter. Coyotes, rabbits, road runners, and bobcats are out all year round. We deal with the treats differently. For snakes, watch where you are walking and look before stepping out. For scorpions, don't leave your shoes outside. Never reach where you cannot see, and flip things over before picking them up. Coyotes hunt in packs, so usually there will be one that you see (and is distracting you) and several that you don't (and are looking to snatch your pet for dinner). You'll hear coyotes every night. There are no mosquitos, but there are wasps and honeybees. There are Praying Mantis and Walking Sticks. There are a few varieties of ants, but not fire ants). Tarantulas are harmless if left alone.
Thank you very much for responding yes my black water tank is a 14 gal everything dumps into there and is completely controlled just like any rig would be it's just not a camper but thank you very much for responding I appreciate it and looking forward to getting out there on the weekend of the 9th
Craig's answer is good. Also you should know that the BLM LTVA areas around Quartzsite will soon close for the season.
$40 two weeks, $180 seven months
The Circle is in a BLM long term visiting area which is open year-round.
The Magic Circle does not have any facilities. The Magic Circle does not have a pit toilet. The Magic Circle is wholly contained inside the La Posa South LTVA.
Okay the rules state you must have a 10-gallon or more permanent holding tank or you can camp within 500 feet of any of the Vault toilet restrooms placed around the b l m there may be exceptions but that's what in the booklet
