Yes we do service calls in the home, depending on where you are located. First, Make sure the weights are on the correct chain/pulley. The heavy weight goes on the right when looking at the front of the clock. Next, check to see that the chime/silent lever by the #3, or the west/whitt/winch/st. mich/silent lever is on chime or one of the melodies. Third, go backwards with the big hand (minute) 1 full hour, then come forward to the next chime point(3-6-9-12). If you hear a chime or click., it should technically work. Now for the bad news, if you have not had service in 40 years, or you had spotty service, it might be end of life on that mechanism. These are just like cars, need an oil change every so often and a repair after 7-10 yrs. The mechanisms were made better back 40 years ago. Also the clock mechanism should have been removed from the clock and stored away from the dust, which is the enemy of any mechanical item..
If it is not a floor standing clock, you do have to bring it in. If you are not local to us, you can ship the clock to us.
Yes we give estimates. Our turn around time for clocks repaired is about 4 - 6 weeks. Just bring it in for us to look at. Lynda
