If you are looking for a workout without driving too far, then this is the place to be. Most of these trails are shared with mountain bikers, so keep aware to move to the side, as some of them move quickly. The Orange trail, as well as others are easily labeled on Google maps. This is a historic site that the 1st and 2nd nuclear reactors were built known as the Chicago pile (cp-1/cp-2). Buried 40 feet below the surface. Leave your Geiger counter at home, it should be safe! Along the Orange trail. Location: 41.7074922, -87.9103664

Great place for a quick hike.

These woods are beautiful. I park off 107th street and take the uphill trail that runs along where a stream once was. The rocky path is a little challenging for younger people but it is great short hike. Getting to visit where reactor piles are buried is excellent.

All of the Palos area forest preserves are just beautiful. Great places to walk and learn about nature. Volunteer if you can!

These are multi use, but keep in mind this is the only legal place to ride mountain bikes. There are a dozen other Preserves within a couple miles with great hiking trails and no mountain bikes. Swallow cliff is a perfect example of a better place to hike and trail run.
