I had a very weird, disturbing and aggressive experience here. I came to the door and tried to open it, it was locked and I saw the man behind the counter. I thought he would buzz me in but he came to the door. He opened it, but prevented me from coming in, and asked me, “Can I help you?” I said, "I’ve come to look at glasses." He paused and said, “It’s by appointment only”, I said, "do you want me to leave”, he said, “I don’t have anyone here now, so come in.” To preface, I'm not sure he was profiling me but to be clear, I’m a 60 year old white guy wearing a pair of $700 Jacque Marie Mage glasses, so, if he wants to sell some glasses... I'm his customer. Not but 20 seconds in the store he asks me if I have my prescription with me. I said, “Yes, but aren’t we getting ahead of ourselves, let me see if I like anything.” He said, “Not all frames, are for all prescriptions.” I said, “In my 60 years of buying glasses, I’ve never heard of that.” He said with some change in his tone, “Are you not going to give me your prescription?” I was kinda frozen and uncomfortable. I said, “I think I should just go.” He walks over to the door and says, “What seems to be the problem?” I said, “I just wanna go, can I leave?” I was worried for a minute there, the vibe was really weird and a little scary. He unlocked the door and let me out. My bike was locked up right in front of the store, as I turned back to look in, he was laughing a bit like a Bond villain. I’ve never had an experience like that before. I also have only ever written two reviews, the first one glowing and then this one, but this was so creepy I think it needed to be written.

I have a small face and Coyote very thoughtfully sourced options for me to consider. He was very candid and direct about what worked and what didn't - he genuinely wanted the glasses to be a good fit rather than just make a sale. When I picked up my glasses, I've never had anyone spend so much time making sure the fit behind my ears and on my face was 100%. There is a level of attention to detail and customer focus that you would not find most places, not to mention a unique selection of frames and lenses at his store.
