Grelle is a great place to camp and the bluebonnets are incredible BUT the main reason I am giving this review is to acknowledge Linda Kramer as the best campground host I have ever met. I have camped a LOT and Linda is the best. She is friendly, helpful, dedicated and cares for the park as if it were her own and the visitors are her family. I camped at Grelle with my extended family over Easter weekend and she really helped make our trip special. Thank you Linda! You are REMARK ABLE!!!

Great place to hike, bring pups and camp. Seems to be lesser known than other parks; however camp sites are usually always reserved. Always friendly campers and hikers. If you hike all around the park, you’ll likely see wild hogs here!

Grelle Recreation Area 12/09/2019 is a excellent launching point (except during very low lake water levels) for the Paddle Trip - Grelle, Turkey Bend, Muleshoe Loop. approx. 3.5 Paddle-Hours along approx. 7 Lake-Miles on upper Lake Travis, Texas including Grelle - Turkey Bend - Muleshoe Recreation Areas A Paddle-Trip Loop from Grelle Recreation Area - (upper Lake Travis - south shoreline) to Turkey Bend Recreation Area (upper Lake Travis - north shoreline - Muleshoe Recreation Area (upper Lake Travis - South Shoreline) - Looping back Grelle Recreation Area. May thru early June are good months for this trip because of the Bluebonnets that are abound then, excellent Bluebonnet paddle trip.

Grelle is our local go to camping destination out of Austin TX. The staff on site are always friendly and helpful. Good shade available on all camp sites from the surrounding trees. Grelle is also equipped to handle large groups that wanna camp over night. I recommend calling about the details and availability. The water does connect to LBJ lake. Fishing is permitted off the shore. There is no shower available, however there is a waterless - enclosed toilet room. It is not a port-a-potty and does not have a sink or any running water.

Reservations are now required. You may get bumped off your site if you just show up and pitch a tent because someone else reserved it online.
The lake is too low currently to swim but Krause Springs is right next door.
Yes in the approved fire pits. Subject to burn bans and drought restrictions.
