One of my favorite Conservation Areas in MO. The Meramec is peaceful and relatively clean in comparison to many of the other nearby rivers. At about an hour outside of St. Louis, this area is the perfect daily getaway for anyone young or old. There's both rugged and paved pathways and you can even bushwhack a bit near the river for some exclusive views of the bend. The floodlands in this conservation area offer some of the most massive Sycamores I've ever seen as well as many other beautiful lowland hardwoods and some scattered shortleaf pines/northern white pines.
