Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. However the rifle range is too old and not enjoyable. No steel targets only paper. The stalls are way to close to each other. Anyone shooting anything bigger than 556 is bothersome to their neighbors. But my biggest complaint is the stall house is so old I canβt go there and not come home with at least 2 or 3 splinters in my hands. It needs a remodel. But itβs run by the state , soβ¦

Awesome place to learn, practice or site your rifle or handgun. The staff is great and extremely helpful. I would recommend this range to young, old, new, or experienced shooters. 200-yard max range works for me..

You will also need your ID, firearm, and ammo, as they do not sell ammo. The cost is $8.00. they do rent eye and ear protection for $2.00 or foam earplugs for free
$8 for two hours of range time, pistol or rifle. This comes with a few free targets as well if you ask. They also rent other stuff at a pretty small cost. Hearing protection is $2, eye is the same. They also rent bench rests and stuff but I'm not sure of the price on those.
Usually are open in wet conditions. Best to call after 9 a.m. on a Saturday before you leave.
Absolutely, we are open to the public. Look forward to seeing you.
It is first come first served.
No. Stones River Gun Range is a rifle and pistol range. We allow shotguns with slugs only because hunters need a place to sight in their shotguns. We do not allow shotguns to shoot birdshot or buckshot. We do not allow guns to be shot from the hip. So you would have to hold the gun up at eye level to shoot it and that is a recipe for an accident.
Sorry we do not rent guns. You must have your own weapon and ammunition to use this range.
Yes they have rifle rests or sandbags that you can rent while you are there.
Mostly Friday thru Sunday. There is a list of days they are closed on their web page.
Yes, it is an outdoor range but the part you stand in is covered. It shouldn't be a problem at all. I'd still bring an umbrella for entering the range and changing targets though. Good luck!
No. Like the above posted said, remember to bring eye and ear protection. They can rent you some if you don't have any.
Free, the last time I went I pretty sure the ranger told me they raised the prices to $8 for adults so the kids could practice for free. But, if you lose or break their arrows you have to pay to replace them.
Benches, this is more of a fudd type range, not the tactical type
I always carry loaded magazines in my range bag, just can't have the magazine in the gun, and nothing in the chamber, with the action open. If that's not correct, then they have been letting me slide (no pun intended).
Yes. You do not need a permit to have a firearm in your house or your vehicle. You will need your firearm in a case to come to Stones River range.
Yes you can shoot .223/5.56 at Stones River Gun Range. We allow all high powered rifle calibers below .50 BMG.
We have plenty of lanes available with no wait. Unfortunately you cannot shoot a .50 BMG at this range.
Nathan We do not have coaches at the range. We do have volunteer range safety officers that experienced shooters and have a passion for helping people and providing you a safe place to shoot. The RSO cannot just stay with you the whole time you are there but will be able to help you and answer any questions you might have.
Eric you do not need a carry permit to shoot at Stones River Gun range.
The governorβs state of emergency order extends through August 29. Unless the governor issues another executive order it will be September before the range can open.
Depends on how you want to handle it. I will extend all annual passes the length of time the range is closed so no time is lost. If you would like a refund I would have to put you in contact with TWRA license devision for a refund.
The range is run by Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. The manager of the range is Tim Turrentine.
Yes you can purchase an annual pass. You can purchase it online or at the range. Please wait till after July 10 when the range opens to purchase it.
January 3 at 10 am.
Yes black powder guns are allowed.
Correct, you need to bring your own gun (in a case or prepare to rent one) ammunition and cash or check. They do sell targets at a fair price.
We have shooting tables. The only way we allow rifles to be fired is sitting at the shooting tables.
You can use a shotgun as long as it has a stock and you are shooting slugs only. You cannot shoot birdshot or buckshot.
Rifle range goes up to a hundred yards and they have two stalls that go to 200 yards. They have 25 and 50 yard placements for targets if you want to shoot shorter range.
Yes u can I go there alot and I have used my bumpstock a few times and u can also shoot full auto guns there and suppressors
