I've never been to a meat market that doesn't take EBT I was so upset to get there shop and check out only to find out that they don't take EBT.. besides that it was good service and good products love how nice and helpful everyone was..I just didn't have $170 in cash for the food.. I was upset but I definitely will go back just won't get as much with cash... My opinion is that more people would come if they would accept EBT...

Tucked away in a small rural town about 60 miles west of Chicago, hidden south of a modern intersection sits this bustling gem of a meat store. Paul Conrad from WGN talked about it on a recent podcast and I had to stop by since I was working in the area. The staff was super friendly and explained how to navigate the store. I even got a sample of the Bier Stick. DELICIOUS!!! I will definitely be stopping by a deeper dive very soon

I was turned on to Reams about 30 years ago while working for Comed it was one of our favorite lunch stops. Brought my wife out and showed her, and have been coming back every other week since then. We have frozen raw salmon, smoked salmon, and smoked lox.
I know they have a website, but they are not yet set up to ship products. It's difficult enough for them to keep up with the products selling out now. You can call the store to find out about gift certificates, they are extremely accommodating and will help.
The prices really don't matter. It's what your getting for the money. This place is the best around this area. We drive a bout 30 min. To get there. It is well worth the time as well as the price.
I didn't see venison the last time I was there. They did have Elk. Best thing is to call.
No, we do NOT sell water buffalo. We do have north american bison (labeled buffalo)
Depends on which brats you get. We have both raw and precooked available.
Smoked Salmon, Cold smoked salmon (lox), and smoked rainbow trout. All the other fish available is fresh and frozen. Recently, they've had fresh salmon fillets back by the meat counter.
We're not set up for EBT cards of any kind. Maybe in the future.
Suet is typically available all the time in the freezer. If you need some, call and ask.

I did see that they had rabbit but unfortunately did not check the price. All I can say is that for the high quality of meat they sell, their prices are on average 25 to 30% lower as compared to neighborhood butchers.
I highly doubt it, they are not really what I would consider my standard grocery store. They are really just a higher end meat market for what I would consider special occasions. A lot of their products fill a niche market to be honest.

Yes they do, they have a lot more Smoked Meats and such in the spring and summer even into the early fall. If they do not have what you're looking for at Reams and you have the time oh, it's worth driving out to DeKalb and going to Inbodens. In my personal opinion they have a much greater selection of everything with the exception of the excellent selection of jerky they have in Elburn at Reams. DeKalb also has a confectionery area with homemade desserts as well as a bakery with all sorts of breads smoked hams and cheeses. Don't get me wrong, I will always support our local butcher in Elburn before I drive out to DeKalb, I am just saying that if you have the time and you're looking for something you can't find at reams they will definitely have it there. Cheryl - as John mentioned these questions are sent to other users that have been to Reams. That said I have seen the "owner" answer questions here. Usually best to give them a quick phone call for the current inventory or if your meat can be ordered.

We have a very decent selection of frozen fish available. And if you have any specific requests, let us know and we can see what we can get. In the deli section, we have smoked rainbow trout and smoked salmon (plain and peppered on the salmon) We also have Lox available.
Hey Lynne, first to let you know that questions here are sent to other Google Map users that may have at one time visited the merchant. It does not go directly to the store. Most users will do their best to help you. That said as a frequent customer I don't recall seeing it BUT my experience is that they can and will provide whatever cuts a customer requests. I recommend you give them a phone call to be sure.

We have veal loaf and Old Fashioned Loaf, so you should come sample those! My guess is the Old Fashioned Loaf is what you're looking for.
