Dr. Sevada Hakobyan took his time to give me a thorough eye examination using the newest technological equipment. Dr. Sevada explained his use of calculations to determine complex fittings for different types of contact lenses and exemplified his knowledge of the latest technological trends. I highly recommend Dr. Sevada Hakobyan for his expertise, approachable attitude when asking questions which he answered competently, and deep understanding of how the eyes' anatomy functions so that he can make the best recommendations for his patients.

There are numerous treatments available to patients with dry eyes. The treatment, of course, depends on the cause of the dryness. Treatment is often accomplished through numerous different courses of action. The first course of action is to address any underlying factors that are contributing to the symptoms. In mild cases of dry eye syndrome artificial tears are usually helpful. If symptoms persist then other treatments are initiated such as medications that promote tear production or punctal plugs that prevent the tears that are produced from being drained into the nose. In more severe cases we may use scleral contact lenses. The lens traps tears between the lens and the cornea keeping the cornea moist.
At Visual Ophthalmology, we implement viable treatment options to help slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness): Low concentration atropine therapy, Orthokeratology (corneal reshaping lens therapy that is worn only at night time) and MiSight (CooperVision) FDA approved soft multifocal lens (worn during the the day). During an eye exam, all clinical options will be reviewed to determine the plan of action that will best fit you and your child.
The severity of disease will largely determine which of these options are most suitable for you. Eyeglasses or soft contact lenses, are generally suitable only in the earliest stages of disease, when keratoconus is mild. At a certain point in the disease’s progression, if your cornea gets too thin, glasses and soft soft contact lenses will not be effective. At this point it is recommended that patients are fit in specialty contact lenses. At Visual Ophthalmology, we find that majority of patients can be successfully treated with custom scleral lenses.
Multifocal contact lenses provide vision correction for both distance and near vision. These contacts accommodate multiple prescriptions on a single lens to help you see clearly at a range of distances.
Yes, we do fit Ortho-K lenses for both adults and children to correct their myopia. Additionally, we prescribe Ortho-K lenses as an effective method of slowing down progressive myopia in children. We use corneal topography (mapping the surface of the eye) data and WAVE lens design tools to create a personalized Ortho-K lens based on individual needs of each patient.
We are proud to be one of the only authorized retailers in Queens to carry EnChroma glasses. EnChroma’s patented lens technology increases the contrast between colors by filtering light so that those with a color deficiency can have a richer, more colorful experience. If you have color blindness, you can visit our website and take EnChroma Color Blind Test. It will tell you if your color vision deficiency is mild, moderate, or severe in less than 2 minutes. The test will not only confirm if you’re color blind but may also be able to determine the type and severity of color blindness you have. After that you can bring your test result to our optical and our optician will help you choose EnChroma glasses that will improve your color vision.
No. You can just walk in but you might have to wait.
It depends on your insurance. But from my experience I went there to get contact fittings and I paid $125 out of pocket because my insurance didn't cover. but you would have to call them and make sure that they take your insurance and see how much they will charge you for an eye exam or glasses or whatever you need from them
Hi. If cataracts are mild or moderate glasses or contacts can correct vision fully. You can make an appointment to check for cataracts as part of a dilated eye exam. After the exam we will be able to tell you if glasses or surgery is a better option to improve your vision.
The short answer is yes. If vision can be corrected with pinhole glasses, then it is likely that prescription glasses or contact lenses will help.
