Friendly staff, but the doctor said they would email my prescription and never did, even after a month. They don’t pick up calls or respond to email.

Dr. Upadhyay is the best optometrist I have ever encountered. I have a lot of eye issues--need trifocals with prisms-- but she is unfailing in her ability to determine the most comfortable and precise prescription. I'm astonished by her skill and patience. I had a prescription filled with another doctor's office--they used Zeiss lenses but Costco uses digital only. And I wanted Zeiss lenses. But their prescription was off--had non-stop headaches and felt as if I was looking through a fishbowl. Brought lenses to Dr. Upadhyay and she determined what was wrong. Immediate relief. I will only see Dr. Upadhyay for prescriptions from now on. NOTE: Located within the Costco located at E. 117th St, you do not have to be a Costco member to see her. Just make an appointment and let front door Costco reps know of this.

Dr. Upadhyay is the best medical professional that I have encountered in 11 years of living in New York City. Her office was incredibly clean and organized, I had very little wait time, she was extraordinarily cordial and absolutely knew her stuff! She took her time to explain everything to me and so I was able to understand things about my vision that I never have been able to before. She’s incredibly intelligent and just so lovely. I can’t wait to go back and see her again. What incredible service! I couldn’t recommend her more highly.

I first saw Dr.Gillian George and then on the free follow up I was seen by Dr. Unnati Upadhyay (Dr.U) at East River Eye Center in Costco at 117th St., NYC. Both doctors were careful, smart and very nice, just fantastic! I had arrived early and was seen after just a few minutes with a very thorough exam. All without being a member. It had been too long since I had seen anyone and needed a new pair of glasses as my vision had changed. Both of them were very professional, highly qualified, knowledgeable, caring and concerned that I understood all my issues. I have astigmatism in one eye and unusual eye dominance but Dr. George fitted me perfectly with glasses and gave me a pair of contacts to try for a week with the option to try a different prescription if I preferred at the follow up. I had never had contacts fit me so perfectly but found that I would also need computer glasses (my sight has changed a bit). At the follow up I saw Dr. Upadhyay, who rechecked everything and did an extra exam for computer glasses as well as readers for use with the contacts, all without charging anything extra! I highly recommend both these doctors and will be going back as good doctors are to often hard to find.

An eye exam costs around $70-$100.
Unfortunately, we don't take Medicaid
A contact lens exam starts at $105 for a basic spherical contact lens fitting and can go up to $145 for multifocal or rigid gas permeable contact lenses. A contact lens exam automatically includes a glasses prescription and a basic eye exam.
