I ended up buying a truck at another dealership And here’s why. We went in specially for a 2023 or 2022 4x4 tacoma Trd. We were very clear. We were directed to every used vehicle or the 2x4… I’m very clear what I wanted. 4x4 tacoma Trd. After trying to be persuaded to test drive a 2x4 we left. Why? Because your people don’t listen and it wasted my time. Received a text saying they found one. We turned around went to that other lot - and… It wasn’t the 4x4 tacoma Trd. So we left. Drove 45 minutes to another dealership. Asked for what we wanted. The sales person drove up with one immediately and made a $53,000 sale. Your dealership Wasted 4 hours of my day. Your dealership needs to listen. Not push vehicles on people. I was very clear with what we wanted. And you lost $53,000 because I was buying a truck that day.

Avoid this dealer. Tried to buy a new Tacoma for the advertised price online and then they tried to mark it up 20% when paying for it. The truck was not yet on the lot but their "dealer add ons" are mandatory and they won't sell the truck without them. Usually I wouldn't care as most add ons are valuable but for this specific truck, part of the 20% markup was a $3k charge for "clear coat protection on front bumper". The truck has an unpainted black bumper - its a base model Tacoma, there is no paint on the bumper to protect! Just dishonest gouging. This wasn't my first negative experience with this dealer. Last time they overcharged for a timing belt on my 4Runner and I had to jump through hoops to get a refund. If you are looking for alternative dealers, I have had great experiences buying from Pinnacle Nissan (purchased a Nissan GTR) and Mark Kia (purchased a Ford Raptor). The car market is becoming sane again, you have choices - spend your money at an honest dealer.

For that money get yourself a brand new Camry, force them to buy it back, make sure they give you what you paid for and buy a new one.

Im a mechanic myself. And yes there is tests to determine a bad water pump. If your car is old and high mileage they will probably talk to you about a timing belt service because usually it goes hand in hand to do both. Just as a heads up. I wont give diagnosis advice but to directly answer your question yes there is tests. If your car runs fine has no leaks and does not over heat i would caution to say you most likely do not need a water pump or gasket. Just my $.02 and opinion based on no context.
