Dr. Robitaille is the best. He is always able to fix the numerous problems I have with my teeth without breaking my budget. He is highly skilled, compassionate and wonderful to talk to. Janessa is the most skilled hygienist I know. She always goes above and beyond to make me comfortable. Janessa’s upbeat personality and attitude are real assets to this practice. I wonder if she has a twin?

Questions & Answers

What are composite resin fillings and restorations?

Samantha Villa | Jul 25, 2022
Philip M Robitaille, D.D.S. & Associates | Jul 25, 2022

Composite resin fillings are the most common alternative to dental amalgam. They are sometimes called “tooth-colored” or “white” fillings because of their color. Composite resin fillings are made of a type of plastic (an acrylic resin) reinforced with powdered glass filler. Composite resin is often placed in layers to build up the final restoration, then cured with an “ultraviolet light.” This light energy speeds up a chemical reaction of the components causing the soft material to harden and bond to the tooth. This material is considered safe. The color (shade) of composite resins can be customized to closely match surrounding teeth. This plastic and glass mixture contains no metal and can be shaped to resemble a real tooth. It is usually hard to tell that a tooth has even been filled!

What can I do to prevent the need for a filling?

I’m pregnant. Is it OK to use Solea on me?

Samantha Villa | Jul 25, 2022
Philip M Robitaille, D.D.S. & Associates | Jul 25, 2022

Yes, it’s actually better since there is no need to inject a pregnant patient with anesthetics for the majority of procedures

Is Solea good for kids?

Samantha Villa | Jul 25, 2022
Philip M Robitaille, D.D.S. & Associates | Jul 25, 2022

It’s great for kids. It’s faster, and most procedures are done without a shot, the drill or pain. Because there is no need for a shot, multiple procedures can be done in one appointment, meaning less time at the dentist. A child can go right back to school or eat right after their appointment because they don’t leave with a numb feeling.

Philip M Robitaille, D.D.S. & Associates | Jul 25, 2022

How does the Opalescence In-Office System work?

Samantha Villa | Jul 25, 2022
Philip M Robitaille, D.D.S. & Associates | Jul 25, 2022

The Opalescence light-activated whitening gel’s active ingredient is Hydrogen Peroxide. As Hydrogen Peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin, bleaching any colored substance while keeping the structure of the tooth unchanged. The Opalescence! light aids in activating the Hydrogen Peroxide and helps it penetrate the surface of the tooth.
