Google changed "don't be evil" from a promise to a demand in their code of conduct. Meanwhile, they created the Dragonfly project to comply with China's state censorship laws. I don't think we have any reason to trust this company anymore.

Google suddenly disabled my account that I used for my business. It said I needed a work space account. I can’t get a hold of anyone to take care of this and my business needs a working email. They gave me no warning they were going to do this!

This is true, They look for what the candidate can do and if that person has a very good friend that is already working that can give a good reference.
You can make the edit directly on Google maps. Once submitted, others can confirm. It's like a maker checker. Anyone else can review and vouch for the update in maps. I looked up process on YouTube or search Google maps edit. Hope that helps. I'd edit on my personal account if I was more familiar
Most solutions can be found at support.google.com. Google does a good job at optimizing the search results.
They make you sign a non disclosure saying you will not discuss what you saw on the tour or take pictures.
