We're so grateful to have this option for movies during COVID! It's such a fun experience getting to sit outside in the fresh air to watch movies. There's plenty of space to spread out with lawn chairs, etc. And you can bring in your own food and drinks!
There are a few drawbacks, though. Some people turn their car lights every so often, there's street noise (which was especially loud the last time we went for some reason!), people talk during movies in regular movie theaters but there were some kids playing very loudly the last time, people often use their car radios and so even though idling is supposedly not allowed, it happens (and the car exhaust stinks!) - and then cars often die and have to be jumped or towed. (I think it could be helpful for the staff to be more vigilant about addressing some of these things in real time.) The first time we went, cars were being towed during the movie which was distracting. The last time, the car in front of us that ran out of batteries was nice enough to wait until after the movie to deal with their car batteries (but sad for them!). The final drawback is that the screen isn't quite as bright and clear as regular movie theater screens (understandable!), so watching dark scenes can be difficult. (Shang Chi was especially challenging because of all the beautiful dark scenes - definitely will have to watch that one again to appreciate all the intricacies.)
All that being said, we're going to keep going back because it's overall a fun experience and a safe way for us to keep watching movies!
P.S. Getting there right when it opens and being on the front row made for our best experience to date so far - no cars turning on headlights or breaking down in front of us, and if there are kids swinging in the front, it's easy to go ask them to stop! 😂😁

Health protocols are in place so order ahead on the mobile app. They have a QR code visible to get menu. Very clean and of course great price for 2 movies. Fun for all!

My family and I love this place. We're here almost every other weekend. I'll be honest, the screens are amazing, sound quality great and atmosphere is everything. But I honestly just enjoy sitting on the back of my truck staring at the night sky. Its beautiful there. Even with the screens on, I can still enjoy the stars, and being there on a night when there's a full moon is the most beautiful, peaceful experience. It's always innocent fun, kids playing in the play area, family's just having fun and meeting new people.

Great way to spend a Friday night. The only complaint (I hate to even call it a complaint) was the potholes in the gravel but it will definitely keep anyone from speeding so it's not that bad especially if you have kids. Brought warm clothes, chips, cokes and the boombox for the truck bed. Sure the bathrooms weren't like in a theater but you don't pay theater pricing either. They're more like high school football stadium restrooms. The app worked great for popcorn. Order and pay. You get a text when it's ready. 2 movies for $8 a person? I'll take the rough driveway and outdoor restrooms every time.
Pack a cooler of drinks and buy some nachos and popcorn from the concession stand...you can sneak it in...but they run off the honor system...support your local drive in
Have seen people with trucks do this in their tailgate. Check the rules on their website and verify with the staff via phonecall. As for food, plenty bring their own but respectfully asked not to litter.
This will likely never be possible as apps will rely on data to stream the sound and there were always be a delay. Also everybody's devices buffers differently. FM radio is the only instant sound source.
Do you have to make reservations or do you just show up?

You call and pay for ticket, no one was in the ticket box when we arrived, we drove on in. Just be careful and go slow due to really rough terrain other than that enjoy. Oh and bring snacks the concession stand maybe closed 😁
Opens Saturday and Sundays entry opens at 7. Movies starts 8:30/8:45 choice of 4 movies. Have a good battery to tune in on vehicle radio. Start your vehicle periodically a lot of batteries died but at the end of the movie put your hood up so they know you will need a jump. Or it's a good idea to have your on battery charger. If you can help someone out with a jump please do. This is a very good date night experience. Bring a picnic, smile and enjoy. Must have a mask on entry and when outside your vehicle.

They don't sell hotdogs anymore. They only have a small selection of movie snacks (popcorn etc) now. You can bring food though. I found this out when I last went and had to make a rushed McDonald's run (they let you leave and come back).
They SHOULD have 2 movies on each screen, maybe try calling them? We saw Raya and also Avengers Endgame the 5th of March, though maybe their repairs after the bad weather or daylight savings time has changed that?
If i purchase online ticket, can j have contactless entry, i mean can the person at gate check the ticket with my windows rolled up or u gave to show him the phone in person with windows rolled down?
Allen William | Jun 22, 2021
Rachel Willis | Jun 23, 2021
Yes all we had to show him the ticket one the phone we had the windows down and he had a mask on
Right now they are showing one new followed by an older popular film. But not what I would consider classics, like Casa Blanca or Breakfast at tiffany's ect. I'll be happy when they go back to showing two new movies per screen.
Are you allowed to sit in the back of a hatchback vehicle?
Emily Riels | Jun 22, 2021
Bailey Nichols | Jun 23, 2021
Yeah, the one on my SUV barely comes above the roof and the screen is up high enough to keep it from blocking anyone's view! Bring blankets and put up some battery powered string lights and you'll be all set!
If I'm late will gate be closed??

How much would it be for four people to come? Do you just pay just the $10.00 for the whole car?

Yes
Are dogs allowed in the car? Also doo yiu show new release movues
Mike Freeland | Jun 22, 2021
Robbi King | Jun 23, 2021
Not sure about dogs. No new movies r being released right now. They normally do. We have been enjoying the classics right now.
Consuming alcohol while in a motor vehicle is not something any establishment in Texas is going to say is ok. Use prudent man judgement. There are very few street lights in this area and 2 lane streets. Expect to leave after 2nd screening around 1:30 am.
Gates open about 7:30 they usually open them earlier depending on how many cars are waiting. Often the cars are lined up along 2920 well before that time on weekends. The movies do not start until 9:00 in the summer time when it is dark. Very enjoyable to attend. Have been going there since 2007.
I think your truck will be great. There are no outdoor speakers, so maybe bring an FM tuner if you want the sound right next to you. Many people are playing the sound from their vehicles pretty audibly, so it shouldn't be an issue either way. Parking is easy on weekends, there was plenty of space for everyone anytime that I've gone.
Went last week & saw movies on screen 2. Was tuned into the correct dial setting, but for some reason the sound coming through sounded terrible & only played on the speakers on right side of truck. Anyone else experienced that or know a solution?
Tony Wood | Jun 22, 2020
Natika Goolsbee | Jun 23, 2020
I have never experienced that problem. Due to the fact it only played from speakers on the right side of the track it sounds to me like there was an issue with the truck speakers or getting a good signal
Are y’all open this friday July 12th
Mario Campos | Jun 22, 2020
Lora Wren | Jun 23, 2020
They should be they open at 6pm i believe. Most movies havent been starting till about 9 pm
Aladdin and Godzilla on one screen and Pets2 and another dog movie on the back screen
If I only wanna see the 2nd movie what time should i arrive. If I arrive around 10 will there be parking?
Jamaka Greer | Jun 23, 2019
Trisha Todar-Jackson | Jun 24, 2019
there will be parking however, I would double check to see what time the ticket booth closes. You pay $8 for two movies, even if you only are going to see one...so with that in mind, the ticket booth does not stay open all night. I would call and verify
Open every day during the summer. My kids can't stop talking about how much fun they had. I have adults down to infant ages and we sat on blankets in back of pickup. Great bonding experience
I recommend a portable radio. A car stereo is designed for an in vehicle experience so if you plan on sitting outside your vehicle it will be very muted (my SUV has Bose stereo and it was still very quiet). The neighboring cars will not help at all with audio volume.
Tldr
Inside vehicle- stereo will do just fine. Anything outside of the vehicle- bring a portable.
Depends on your radio set up. If you weren't running your vehicle's radio and relied on others, you will definitely have a hard time. I'd recommends a battery powered radio that you can tune into.
Can a minor with another minor come in without an adult in a movie that is not rated R?
Haydee Reyes | Jun 23, 2019
Praelia Lovell | Jun 24, 2019
You're asking if minors can come to the drive in to see not rated R movie, without adult supervision? Yes.
They have rules against it, but they operate on an honor system. They don't check your cars or demand you toss it out. However, they make nearly all of their money through the concession stand (full kitchen with pretty good food for the price). That's why they charge so little for the movie tickets. If you bring food or drinks, go inside and buy something still.
They'll close if the rain is particularly bad, only because most people won't come in and it wouldn't be worth the expense to open. However, they do update their website if they'll be closing that day. So, be sure to check their website before you leave.
No the drive in like any other movie theater only cards if two teens are together and they don’t look to be old enough I believe thy won’t card if an adult is present
I would recommend looking at the site for films and times as the movies change. You can see two for the price of one. http://theshowboatdrivein.com/home.html#movies
Does anyone have their number or what showings r they having??

Patrick Hill | Jun 24, 2019
Check out their website...i think it's Hotel Translyvania 3 and Jurassic world onbine screen and Ant Man and the Wasp and Mission Impossible on the other.
Everyone here is kind of wrong. The movie times are based on dusk. So, when the sun has gone down, the movie will start. That means a different time for different seasons. So, from october~april it will be starting around 7 pm. From april~september it will start around 8/8:30.
No they don't, but who is stopping you from bringing your own? I don't remember any signs saying that you can't. Just don't drink it right before the movie is over or you might get pulled over drunk ....
Yes today is friday so they're open tonight. However i would go with cash or debit/credit as a back up just incase they won't accept the fandango gift card...
I used my radio on my phone and it worked fine. I downloaded a radio and it didnt work but the radio that comes on the phone works with headphones plugged into it then you can use a speaker phone.
