Absolutely rude, unprofessional clerks, impossible to sign for consultation, seems like front desk clerks are making decisions about diagnosis and possibly to visit the doctor. Very rude and unpleasant place.

What happened to patient satisfaction? The front office staff is rude and did not offer alternative options. First I had to wait 3 months to get an appointment. Then, I finally got an ultrasound done in December but had to wait WEEKS to get my results, which I still wasn't able to get!!! I had a change in insurance but didn't realize that I was going to have to pay ANOTHER office visit just to HEAR RESULTS!!! This office is all about MONEY and not patients!!!! I'm looking for another doctor that will care about my well-being.

The first step is going to a vascular clinic or vein clinic to be tested. Imaging studies typically involve a vein ultrasound referred to as a venous reflux ultrasound. This study is reviewed by a physician in order to determine your best treatment options. Seek a board-certified vascular surgeon.

If you are seeking a physician to treat your varicose veins, always research to find a board-certified vascular surgeon. The only specialty that is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties to be appropriately certified in vascular disease management is vascular surgery / vascular surgeons. This specialty has a requirement for residency and fellowship training in vein disease treatment, with the training varying between 5 to 7 years after medical school. So vascular surgeons are the best qualified physicians for vein disease management due to their many years of training and experience. But also make sure that your vascular surgeon is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. Look for "FACS" in addition to "MD" after their name as well.

There are many treatments available to treat abnormal leg veins. Which therapy is best suited for you will depend on the size, number, and location of your veins. Sometimes a vein ultrasound of the legs is needed to determine the best treatment options. One therapy utilized to treat abnormal leg veins is laser therapy. One example is EndoVenous Laser Therapy, referred to as EVLT. This therapy has a 95% success rate in treating venous reflux disease, the underlying cause of varicose veins. There are other laser and light therapies that can also be successful as well. It is best to get a consultation from a board-certified vein specialist in order to make an informed decision on the best treatment options for your individual vein condition. Austin Vein Specialists offers a free initial consultation for evaluation of leg veins. At this visit you will be seen and examined by a board-certified Vein Specialist MD.

What is the cost for removal of leg veins (i.e spider veins) to improve the appearance of your legs?

Mandy Laurean | Oct 24, 2018
Mandy Laurean | Oct 24, 2018

The current cost for removal of leg veins with injections or laser is $350 for one session of spider vein removal. This can include both legs and the session may last up to 30 minutes. More than one session may be required, depending on the severity of the veins and ones individual response. At Austin Vein Specialists, these sessions are performed by a board-certified vascular doctor (rather than by an assistant or nurse). The cost does include the cost of any medication used for the therapy as well. If the veins are larger than spider veins (i.e. varicose veins) then the costs will increase. A free consultation is offered to examine your legs and to provide an estimate of the number of expected treatments needed.
